[Discussion] Does anyone else feel that Ace was a disappointment as a Pirate?

he stopped wanting to be the pirate king because he had so much respect for whitebeard that he wanted to help make him the king, that was his ambition nad his mission. if that makes him a dissapointing pirate then every crew member in ever crew and shanks and whitebeard were also dissapointments as pirates since none of them are aspiring pirate kings. ace is a great pirate and he lived his pirate life to the fullest as one of the free-est with no regrets. he is more of a pirate than anybody in the strawhats will ever be

What disappointed me about Ace was that we never seen him "kick-ass" like an amazing 1v1 fight. (Smoker doesn't count)

But it seems to be like a pattern with every OP/badass characters in manga like Itachi/Minato. We never get to see their full potential.
