itachi was planning to take sasuke's eyes but sasuke was stronger than him
Itachi wanted to kill tobi after he obtained sasuke's eyes

It came down to this. If Itachi faces Sasuke and Sasuke seems to be strong enough in Itachi's eyes to defeat Madara then he will give him his power. If Itachi felt that Sasuke was not yet ready to beat Madara he would have took his eyes to become stronger, to take out Madara,.(Remeber that Itachi does wat is best for the greater good, and he went against his own clan to save Konoha) I think that he would have done every thing in his power to prevent a Immortally powerful guy like Madara to take over Konoha, even if it ment killing his brother. If you look back to what Itachi said to Sasuke, "the only reason that I let you live was because I saw potential in you". The reason for him to say that, is to get Sasuke strong enough to compete with him, to see how could stand a chance against Madara.

No, I think Tobi is quite serious about what hes talking about. If he was lying then he would admit it to Sasuke, face-to-face. But I really believe what Tobi is trying to say to make Sasuke understand why the genocide of the Uchiha Clan happened.

true to say, I think so too and that means Tobi is lying , cuz protection of Sasuke had no meaning to Itachi except he wanted to gain superior eyes and on the second place was a protection of Konohora

Jip, I think we are getting closer to the real deal here. That also explains why Itachi didnt take the clan members eyes that he killed. Because he saw that Sasuke's eyes had the potential to become the MS. I think Madara is twisting something, somewhere, just not sure what it is. But it all comes down to the fact that Madara wants Sasuke for something, and I think he will do anything to get him.
I think so too, but my question was about relationships between Sasuke and Itachi - were they brothers afterall or Itachi just wanted sasukes eyes - Madara says , that Itachi was brother to Sasuke , so is he lying?
