Like I've been thinking about it and I think the devil could turn good. Like I don't think God could make the devil pure evil. I think the devil have some backstory to why it is the way it now. I think the devil could turn good. What do you think?

Well I think satanists believe he is good but misunderstood. Wether he turns good again or not, God will not make space for him in heaven again. That is why satan is jealous that we do have a chance.

Or so they taught me...

Satan is not an actual deity. Oddly enough, Satan has a lot of similarities with JChrist.

Believe it or not, the right group of so-called 'satanists' have a better understanding of religion than christians/muslims/jews (etc) do.

in every religion i know of satan is an angel. he was one of god's angels and was cast down from the heavens to wander the earth. the reasons for his banishment defers at every religion but it's always god gives command, satan not happy with command and start a rebellion to overthrow god.

there is this great story in the bible in the Book of Job where satan has a "bet" with god where he says that one of god's strongest believers only believes in him because he is given presents and good fortune, and that if taken from him he will stop believing. so god kills his family, takes away all his money, give him a painful and incurable disease all to prove satan the man is a true saint. in the end the guy (called Job) curses the day he was burn and pray God for a reason for his suffering (i remind you, the reason was a bet with satan). at this point the story turns into a weird speeches by all the characters invloved where each speech makes no sense and in my opinion was there because the writer didn't came with a good reason for Job's suffering by god. then god gives Job twice the wealth and wives and kids and health and all in return for his undying belief in him.

Satan as a character likes to prove god wrong, thats probably all there is to it.

It's actually different in Islam. There is jinn, which the devil is, they are intelligent like humans and angels, but like humans they have freewill (In Islam angels don't have freewill, they just do whatever God tells them to). The devil used to be a follower of God but when God created Adam he told all the angels to bow down to Adam, and then also called the devil to bow down to Adam, the devil rejected because he thought that he was greater than Adam, humans were created from the earth but jinn are created from smokeless flame. The devil says that humans would never submit to God, but God says that they will and allows the devil to try and stray them from the right path until judgement day. But when the sun rises from the west that will be the last day the devil and submit to God (If you submit your sins are erased).

I don't believe in Satan so...no need to blame our imperfection and the bad things on an abstract entity.

This thread, is a mistake. Whatever...I can tell you something:

God didn't make Lucifer(Satan) evil.
It was Devil's choice to be evil
He is abandoned by God and Heaven.

I think, next time if you want to start a thread, have some knowledge about the topic you choose. It seems like you don't know much about religions (or the christian religion).

Well I will tell you to look it from this side.Lucifer fell from Grace because he was pridefull and didn't want to bow down to God's newest creation Humans. He saw only greed in our hearts. To tell you the truth if you turn your news on- Murders, slaughter of Children,Wars, Polution etc.
Moral of the story Evil is just a point of perspective. When it is not your view it is wrong therefore it is evil.

I think when you look at the "devil" you only see one thing: evil.
Now whatever religion your viewing the "devil" from, your point of view will be different.
I will give you my opinion, being that I was born and raised catholic, I will give you the Christianity version of it.
The "devil" was an angel called Lucifer. He was one of God's most beloved angels/archangels. He was beautiful and magnificent and arguably God's favorite. Now, when God created man he asked all his angels to bow down to him including Lucifer. Lucifer being as proud as he was refused to bow down to creatures that were less than him and were murderous and the idea to bow down to these creatures was down right ludicrous to Lucifer. Because he disobeyed God, God told Michael to cast him to hell and banished him from heaven.
Now to answer your question, Do you think the devil could be good? Absolutely not.
When Lucifer decided to disobey I think he corrupted his sense of "justice" and turned it into hate and vengeance. Not only did it change him internally but as how we all see the "devil" he changed physically as well.
As it was mentioned above, God didn't turn the devil evil, he turned himself evil and corrupted any "good" there was in him, if there was any to begin with.
