Do you think Itachi was a Good or Bad Person?

"Good" and "Evil" differs from person to person. In my eyes he was good at the beginning, but when it was proven that he worked for konoha and betrayed akatsuki, he became evil.

He was always thinking of others, never for himself. That's altruism, which is arguably the defining trait of all that is good. Whether you can call him a bad person for his mistakes delves into consequentialism versus deontology.

At first, there wasn't a character I loathed more than Itachi. He murdered his parents, his kith, and mentally tortured his innocent 7 year old brother...that's just cruelty at a whole different level. But then when everything unraveled, it turned out how he was manipulated by Danzo to save sasuke and slaughter his clan, or join them and see sasuke killed. He obviously loved sasuke more than anything in the world, so he chose to kill the clan instead. While I admit, in a way this was still evil. He could have exposed the whole thing and then a proper trail would have taken place, and Danzo and the elders lopsided ambitions would have been out in the open.

But we are all human and we make mistakes. I love the fact how he did EVERYTHING for sasuke and sasuke only. He visited the village to remind Danzo that he was alive so that he wouldn't think he could just murder Sasuke if he felt like it. His last words to his brother prove that all his actions were never for the village but for Sasuke. He lived in shadows to keep a watchful eye on his young brother. I mean, he basically said that even if you destroy the village, my love will not wane. The way it should be. For these reasons, he was a good character.

tortured a small child and corrupted him into trying to kill innocent people, slaughtered an entire clan of women children and old people, tortured kakashi and tried to order his execution, ruined sasukes life, planned to brainwash and enslave sasuke without his knowledge, participated in various crimes for akatsuki, threatened to commit high treason

I love the fact how he did EVERYTHING for sasuke and sasuke only.

yet his actions neither support this nor prove this. almost all his actions reach back into selfishness. he tortured and corrupted sasuke so sasuke coudl put him out of his misery. he killed the clan because he felt only he had the right to do so. he controlled sasukes life because only he had the right to do so apparently. he preaches about not doing everything by yourself yet tried to take kabuto by himself. what a disaster if he actually did. and he shows complete apathy and cruelty when he basically ordered a hit on innocent people purely so sasuke would be powerful.

he did none of that when alive. that was all because of KA FORCING HIM to protect konoha. and no he didnt save his brother. he ruined sasukes life and made him evil. he is one of the worst villains in history, a selfish genocidal psychopath. what the **** is wrong with everyone that they call someone who COMMITTED GENOCIDE a hero?

if you think he was a bad guy becuase he killed his clan? he had the CHOICE to join them or to kill them before they would have attacked the leaf.... Itachi IS a good person, though he played as a bad guy, he was good person, and an epic ninja.

itachi is one of the most evil selfish and cruel characters so far. he brutally and savagely mindraped his own brother twice and beat him into a coma for no reason. he brutally tortured akkashi and tried to order his murder. he committed mass genocide and shoved a sword in his own mothers chest. if he wanted to stop the coup do it without slaughtering children and women. and he was so evil that he wanted to permanently steal sasukes free will and make him into a controlled slave of the bastards who ordered the killing of sasukes family.

, he did what had to be done and endured unimaginable pain and hate for the sake of the greater good. he was selfless, tough and a good brother

no he did what he thought only he should do, thinking nothing about what sasuke would think of all this or all the people who admired him as a genius only to be proven horribly wrong. and he forced unimaginable pain on his own brother and turned him evil just so itachi can not feel guilty anymore, and kill himself via proxy. he is possibly the single worst brother in the history of fiction. he made sasuke watch his clan die on replay then beat him into a fukin coma! hes horrible, evil and sociopathic.

always thought he was similar to Snape

snape never commited genocide, he did mindrape a kid but harry wasnt 7 years old, he actually provided the order with useful intel whereas itachi got hundreds of people killed when he withheld all of the intel he had on akatsuki from everyone. snape also wasnt a brutal sociopath who tortured lupin for no reason or made harry watch cedric die on replay.

So yes, Itachi did horrible things, but always for good reason

doesnt change the fact he did those things. obitos reasons are "good" but he still ruined narutos life. nagatos reasons are "good" but he still destroyed konoha
