Do you think Itachi was a Good or Bad Person?

Im having this argument with this guy in one of my old threads and he saying Itachi is a bad person.
I would like to have this poll to see what everyone else thinks.

Itachi = Good
Itachi = Bad

Please also give a paragraph why he is good/bad person or go to this thread (

I really think he is a good person but I can't explain it to this guy because he's just making assumptions stuff like "what if" and the stuff he's coming up with didn't happen in the Anime. I really cant be be bothered to go into so much detail because he's just going to reply back with some nonsense so if you would like to speak with him please do so.

This thread is purely made so I can see what everyone thinks of him and if anyone wants to read what that guy said or if they want to reply to him.

I always thought he was similar to Snape. He was forced by others and his past mistakes to do horrible things. This was used to his "advantage" to do the right thing for the big picture.
I mean, think about it: Itachi was a tripple (I think it was) agent, and in turn, he was the one chosen to slaughter his entire family. Snape turned his loyalty away from Voldemort, and, in turn, made everyone beleave he was a monster and murderd a great man in cold blood. The taint of disgrace followed them to their graves. They gave their name, honor and place in history for their native land. It wasn't for glory, but for the ones they loved--even though most of them were lost (all of them in Snape's case). So yes, Itachi did horrible things, but always for good reason and from a forced hand. They were, in my opinion, the strongest characters (will, spirit and so forth--not power) and greatest heros in their own story. Despite the things they lost and the failures in their life, they kept on going no matter the pain that struck them down repeatedly.

So, yes, Itachi was a good man, and a GREAT Shinobi.

Yeah, the part with his parents in the flashback was sad, yet touching. It humanised him and let us see more of the truith.

Itachi was a good person and knowledgable, he always tried to protect the village even after death (he didn't need to) so that speaks volume in itself. He wanted to be the bad guy in other people's eyes and he said it himself: 'Self-sacrifice - A shinobi that protects the village within the shadows that's a true shinobi' I know that he got it from shisui but it defines his character more

i admire what itachi did and he was a GREAT person, he did what had to be done and endured unimaginable pain and hate for the sake of the greater good. he was selfless, tough and a good brother (sasuke is still alive isn't he ? ....)

itaichi is a good person he never did anything with out reason and he hated violence but like haku he suffered the pain of doing what he hated also he sacrificed his honour for the village and closed the curtain on his own clan as the were planing a take over which takes a lot of guts and commitment he is a true hero as he didnt do it for honour of being a hero but willingly became the villain to do what did as well as keeping the uchiha name intact and dont forget he is a leaf ninja who has to protect the village from any danger that comes to the village its a shame that the danger was his clan
and he left the world with a grin and still considers himself a true leaf ninja

LOL guys, if you think he was a bad guy becuase he killed his clan? he had the CHOICE to join them or to kill them before they would have attacked the leaf.... Itachi IS a good person, though he played as a bad guy, he was good person, and an epic ninja.
