I think it works but like someone said not the way its portrayed in movies and TV shows.

I think it's all really just subconscious suggestion. You get someone to focus on you and only your voice and you plant things in the subconscious, but they think they are being hypnotised but its really just selective suggestion.

I saw a documentary about how Russian soldiers would re train POW's and have them fight for them. And this type of method was used.

Really? Where did you see this documentary. It sounds absolutely fasinating(but cruel).

I do think hypnotism is possible. Perhaps even very likely. It probably isnt like how its portrayed on tv though.

Also if mind control is possible, and research has learned how to do it(see cold war research), then it is used.

But that is a different can of worms.

When it comes to science, I try my best not to get stuck on a theory or "fact". I try to keep my mind open to all the facts and draw my conclusion from there. If I dont know enough facts, then i dont draw a conclusion at all.

It's releasing the boundary of shame, to be more precise let the person have freedom. Society puts pressure on people, as there is social image, working etc.

By hypnotizing, you release the burden from person's shoulder, giving them the ability not just to do what they want, but at the same time leading the trajectory yourself of how you want. Thus, you can turn the person to a so wished rock star, you can use it for interrogation as they don't care about consequences and so on.​

Also the media imho could be considered hypnotism. The media can convince you a sinner is a saint, and condemn an innocent man to death. It's just that it's so subtle you never notice it and it goes right under your nose.

Yea I admit I use the term loosely, but it's amazing the degree of which the media and the boob tube/radio can influence ppl. In my eyes it's pretty much hypnotism, but brainwashing would be a better term.

I can't decide whether I love or hate Apocalypse. The whole thing screams artificial. How did he get some of those angles? Perfect audio at every point? Making somebody pass out over the phone is a f*cking Marvel superpower and I refuse to believe it :') but at the same time it could be real.

ofcourse, hypnotism is real. and probably every person in the world was hypnotized at some point in his life, some get hypnotised multiple times a day. because hypnotism is simply a relaxed state of mind where the mind is more suggestive. watching television, hearing music, reading a book or even stuff like driving and walking all can get you into a trance state where you do all those stuff on automatic without really being aware you are doing them or thinking you are doing them. that state (also called autosuggestion) puts the mind in a very suggestive state where he can more easily interpert and "take in" ideas and thoughts. thats why they put so many advertisment on television, radio, magazines and in great billboards on roads while driving. because in autosuggestion the mind is more easily accepting of those stuff.

when you walk to school or drive to work, do you remember what happenend? do you remember what you were thinking during the way? did you think about every stop you made or every traffic light you stopped at? if you didn't, it means you entered a small trance state and where hypnotised.
