Garp would have easily been able to kill him lol. If Akainu lost to WB, who was in his old age + on the verge of death and still loses, there is no way he would stand a chance against Garp. Garp is just an elite, who is on the level of guys like Roger, who even stated that they had nearly killed each other on numerous occasions. This is the pirate king we are talking about!!!

Akainu was the one who did most of the damage to WB. A hole in his chest plus almost half his face blown of, but all fanboys say is how he owned Akainu, forgetting that WB caught him off guard and from behind, but strangely enough they dont remember Akainu shortly after that getting up like nothing happened and basically humilliating Marco and Vista, like it or not after the fight with Akainu WB was pretty much dead. Sengoku only held down Garp becasue in a war it's not the best thing to show your soldiers two of the most highest ranked people fighting each other.

Killed? No. Maybe injured him if he caught him off guard. Akainu is a tank and Garp just uses fists. Garp will have to get quite a few hits in to get Akainu to die. Remember Akainu shrugged off WB's hits like nothing 10 mins later. A fight b/w those two will last for some time before a result is reached. Besides, Garp is old.
