Disrespectful...to a mother effin flag...like ppl have been so brainwashed to worship a damn flag. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't burn, step on it, or be ignorant but lets be honest; Ppl would sooner let their neighbor starve than let the flag touch the ground. These priorities fam....

"Oh the veterans fight for this country...."

Oh you care so much about you veterans...I think we all know how they are treated when they get back from war. This whole conflict in the middle east started off as a major cluster**** and many people had and have no idea why we were/are over there. They were expendable. Our presidents consists of a liar and a commercialized bigot. We pass homeless people on the street every day, people want to sweep all forms of racism/sexism/etc under the rug, but wait....someone sat down during the national anthem...someone didn't put their hand over their heart! GET THESE HEATHENS, THEY NEED TO RESPECT COLORED CLOTH! (I know it represents the country)

"If America is so bad why don't you go to another country"

This is stupid. I mean yeah black people aren't getting systematically slaughtered like they are in a third world war zone, but I mean just because it could be worse doesn't mean people need to accept the current BS America feeds them. America tends to pat themselves on the back. LOL, like when slaves first got free I bet some people were like "Hey we might segregate, but you could still be a slave. At least its not as bad as back then."

Listen, you can't say it represents America, and pick and choose what it represents. Maybe that flag doesn't represent the same things to that other person, like its not a fact that the flag repersents freedom....freedom for who? That flag was around during slavery. LOL.....Funny thought...what does confed flag represent? Some people support that flag as well as this flag....thats funny....anyway, the flag can represent freedom, and oppression. Rebelling against the King, and massacring the Indians. When you stand up I'm sure you're not standing up for the bad things, so when Kaep sits down...know its the bad things he is sitting down for. Since he has the right to do such a thing, I think its very American that he exercises his right to bring attention to what he thinks is a problem. He gave a pretty valid reason as well. It wasn't like he was saying, "I hate America, and I'm pro ISIS." They treating this man like a terrorist. In this case, it's racism. Trust me he likes veterans, he is pro America, like get off his jock strap. Other people stand up for it because it represents something else for them. This flag is not a god, like sheesh! I respect the flag, but some people....*sigh*

"It represents the people so sitting down is like disrespecting everyone living in America."

Whaaaaaaaatttttt, like now you're just reading too much into it. He is not saying eff America and its people....he clearly said...*sigh* like you're just mad cuz you want to be now. Dude said why he sat. He isn't going to stand up for what he feels is a corrupted nation.(paraphrase) If that is why he sat down then I can't blame him. Why do you stand up? Respect? Half the time I'm thinking about how much those nachos cost in the stadium, and whether I have enough money or not. I show respect, but I have no problem with someone who thinks differently. Like I said, how many people do you really help on a daily basis. Throughout the day our actions are saying "eff everyone", then someone sits for an anthem and we all turn into peace loving hippies who forgot about how they said they should ship all the Muslims *or republicans lol) away....effin America..........

I respect it. 1st amendment right.. people are trying to talk or scare/force him out of his right to express himself even trying to mandate his choice of peaceful protest.

I respect the flag, I'm American but I've had a problem with God being removed so this is fine by me.

I grew prausing the Lord before the flag and what's going on in this country IS NOT OK.

I work at a yacht club and frigging A are humans stupid...

I may not be right with the Lord in full but I'm trying and CAN'T WAIT FOR THE RETURN

It means more then the veterans it represents a chance at better life free choice the ability to own your own land while i could care less about an ordinary dumbass who thinks because he dont have to stand for the anthem which also is more of a patriotic action but if you are an athlete it is mandatory for you to stand out of respect especially if you are high up in a professional level sports in other countries you that are oppressive you would be shot or worst

Now as for the blacks there are cases of actual police brutality but in the cases 9/10 times its the runners own fault for running or he had a weapon last week there was a shooting between drug dealers luckily no one died except the shooter but this is the reality good cops face not counting the bad what needs to be done is to dis entrench the gangs who kill far more then the police and that is a fact
In chicago the nbas players cousin got killed by a stray bullet because the driver of a cab looked at the shooter funny tell me who is more unreasonable the cops or a gang member

Honestly I don't care I don't support him nor am I against him

I would stand and remain silent for the anthem out of respect

but I'm not putting my hand over my heart for it to me the anthem is a lie and full of BS same goes for the pledge of allegiance

I'll stand but I'm not saying the words

If you find yourself pledging to your flag/government/country unquestionably without a second thought then you are clearly being conditioned via crowd psychology and should step back to check your own individual conscience.

sacrifice, sacrifice, sacrifice, sacrificed themselves for america. why the hell do people not even believing in an afterlife talking about sacrifice ? they should only say then, they were dead in war so we lived, we were lucky, they were fools.

to leave a legacy to humanity ? screw humanity, who would sacrifice himself for such a shit ?

sincerly, and seriously, I don't get the use of the "sacrifice" word from people not believing in anything, not giving a **** about believing.

and, euh, for the op question, I don't know this guy, and, who cares about him right ?

I'm fine with him sitting down during the national anthem, he doesn't have to stand for it, he has his right to do so. My problem stems from him trying to say the reason as to why he didn't was because black people are oppressed in America, which is a lie. His career in the NFL is a testament to that. Oppression of blacks ended after the civil rights movement, so to say that blacks still face oppression to this day after the sacrifices of civil rights movement leaders like Malcolm X, Nina Simon, or MLK jr., is just insulting to their legacy.

I saw someone post something very true. It was basically that they don't blame him, because its something from a different era, something not necessarily relatable to many people today. The whole idea is ludicrous anyway; it's unfair to be "saluting" the efforts of one group and sidelining all others.

Totally wrong and contemptible.

Personally, I don't give a f*ck about an anthem. I stand up because others do and I don't want trouble. This guy is not gonna solve or start anything positive for himself by sitting down and standing up for veterans doesn't do jack shit. I could be wrong but I heard American Veterans don't enjoy their lives after coming back from war so we already know the whole stand up for the people who sacrificed themselves is bs.

So, people are going wild again because some guy didn't stand up for a damn melody? They obviously live a far too good life then. Similar stuff happened during the olympic games here in germany too, when the german discus thrower Christoph Harting allowed himself to express his joy after winning, during the national anthem.

It's beyond me how people can get so furious about these irrelevant things.

The police brutality issue problem is not race related, it's simply police brutality.

He talks about oppression in a general sense.

Police brutality is race related when it's minorities that are targeted frequently. There a case where a black man was pulled over 30x in 3 years with none of the stops resulting in tickets or arrest. So what was he stopped and detained for?
