Americans seem to be outraged with him but it makes sense.

I mean what exactly does the nations flag mean to him??

Ppl saying "but soldiers gave they lives for this country."

True but wasnt it not so long ago any race besides white went to war to protect freedoms they wouldnt even have when they got back?

Wasnt America a home stolen from the natives?

I mean it has its good side, but it does have its dark past.

So Colins actions is totally understandable.

The country represents justice for all and it even says it in the pledge. But justice for all clearly isnt the case.

So shooot if he doesnt wanna stand for the anthem cause he feel it doesnt apply to him then so be it.

Hate to break it to ya but Blacks have been apart of the American military since the Civil War.

But I understand where he's coming from, he believes the Flag's ideals have not been upheld properly by America and therefore he sees no reason in saluting it.

It's like if your boss said you'll be getting a raise in one week for your hard work and three months go by and nothing has changed.

You wouldn't want to shake his hand because he didn't uphold his ideals.

It's the same thing, you're not going to respect someone or something if they don't do what they say.

I'm a black person but I don't know how to feel about it cuz I have had ppl in my family be in the military so I always salute the flag as way of saluting them. However, I totally get it. Ppl didn't risk their lives and die for racism and racial conflict. Maybe he should have found a way to get the same message across without gettin so many ppl butthurt af.

You can't force someone to stand for something they don't wan't to such as racial inequality.

He has the right to choose what he believes in.

I feel you. I respect the people that have good intentions and fight for us. But I can't respect what America was founded on.

I've never stood for anything related to that, whats the point if you want me to show you respect I can do it to veterans and anyone else who believes staring at a flag makes them feel better directly without having to stop what I'm doing to stand awkwardly for 5 minutes.

Soldiers fought for our freedom which means Kapernick has the freedom to sit down during the National Anthem.

He has the right to do so, but it being disrespectful or a good decision is an opinion.

It's funny how Trump supporters are pissed off at him for criticizing America and some even want him to leave the country, but Donald Trump goes around criticizing America and they get cheer him on...

I'm fine with him sitting down during the national anthem, he doesn't have to stand for it, he has his right to do so. My problem stems from him trying to say the reason as to why he didn't was because black people are oppressed in America, which is a lie. His career in the NFL is a testament to that. Oppression of blacks ended after the civil rights movement, so to say that blacks still face oppression to this day after the sacrifices of civil rights movement leaders like Malcolm X, Nina Simon, or MLK jr., is just insulting to their legacy.

So people support Trump for being Anti-PC, saying things like the U.S. is going to hell, and even wrote a book called "Crippled America."

But as soon as some guy sits down for the national anthem, enacting his right to free speech, and basically says.....the U.S. is going to hell, then all of those people suddenly start being PC?

The problem with your statement is he didnt say blacks he said he is standing with minorities. Police tactics is the real problem, how many times do we see minorities harassed by police officers. All around the country investigations find police departments have systemic racism going on throughout the department. Young minority men are hit with much harsher sentences compared to white males the same age fir the same crime.

He has every right to sit down. I can completely see what he means. There is a problem with policy brutality. Against all races, even though it is more prevalent with minorities.

And I find it hilarious the same people upset with this man, support Trump who shows even less support to our military. Remember when he joked about disliking McCain because he has been a POW? Or how about the fact that that flag, which is supposedly representative of our armed forces, also represents a country which treats those same armed forces like complete shit once their service is up.

The police brutality issue problem is not race related, it's simply police brutality.

He talks about oppression in a general sense.
