I've grown listening to ppl talking about how mighty United Sates of America are and how developed they are compared to the rest of the world (Japan, Germany & South Korea not included, of course) and just a few minutes ago i was checking a thread talking about the U.S military funds and how big it is.
I love America though i don't live there, but seriously: does America REALLY need such an enormous amount of money wasted on military R+D? Which country would be crazy enough to attack them? They have the most advanced army in the world, the second one in manpower....then again: why is that amount of money necessary?

I wouldn't go that far, my friend. Maybe they're not as powerful as they used to, but they're and will be always a force to be reckoned with. And the army is always in a very good shape, so....

Well, have you ever thought that the U.S. has to have the best army in order to make wars , in order to make money, in order to avoid a new economical crash?

As someone already has mentioned the U.S. are already in an astronomical debt. That's why it metaphorically compared to a giant with legs made of glass.
