I believe it's true. All over the globe there are people who have a day of independence from some form of rule/government not wanted. People fought for it with their lives for their family, for future generations. Tolerance was no longer acceptable. When you are cornered and reduced to a state of worthlessness as a human (or near), when you are pushed and shoved; you gotta make the choice to fight back with your very life or die an empty death. If you died fighting back, your death would have counted for something; whereas if you didn't fight back your death would be for nothing. It would almost be like you never existed. You would leave no mark in the world.
