And yeah I believe in the Christian God, i try my best to follow the rules in the bible, knowing that theres an all powerful being that helps me in my times of need and all he asks is for you to praise him and have no other god be for him

there are problems with that story.
it contradicts the fact that god is "omnipotent and benevolent."

why would he create us in such a way that allows for our disobedience?

one cannot argue the unknown. it is baseless and can lead anywhere.

It is true that people can't argue about the unkown as you know.. theres no proof or anything to argue with.

Before I begin, I will say that I am an atheist, and about a year ago I was a christian.

Lets just say for a second that god is real, that we had any proof of existence.
Why should we believe in him?
He has done nothing to help us, people kill eachother everyday in his name, yet no one kills in the name of the universe
We believe so that we go to heaven? I'd rather do good deeds just becuase I want to, and better the world for the humans that. come after me, not because I'll got to hell if I don't

I believe that we are all the gods of our own selves. We all have the potential to make a difference in this world without the help of god
Alot of people don't like the fact that atheist believe in nonexistence after death, but would you rather spend billions of years in one place, everything will be utterly boring, I can tell you this, you eventually will want to die.

My son was diagnosed with Tetrology of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia, and the doctors in Minneapolis said he wouldn't make it to his first birthday and that no surgeon could fix him up. Those medical terms are heart defects. We found a doctor at the Stanford hospital in California who was willing to operate on him, and we traveled from North Dakota to California twice for surgeries. God had a hand in saving my son's life, and because of these events i'm a full fledged believer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you and your son. But why give god credit for something that a surgeon, a human, did?

the terms "free mind" and "free will" are very vague.

i can see your point. it's a "what if" scenario.

if god created humans with "free will/mind" god is neither benevolent nor omnipotent.

"free will" allows for people to harm innocent people. say a child. (Fritzl case)

how can a god let this happen? simple, there isn't one; or you can say there is a god but that god doesn't care anymore, it just watches with indifference. in both cases, neither should be worshiped.

however your way of thinking doesn't bother me. it's those who want to impose on others, baseless and unproven beliefs.

Yeah, of course. There are many reason why I beleive in God. I'll try to list some:

• I feel His existence
• Prophecies & "scientific miracles" in our Sacred text
• Creation of universe, earth.etc. and life and its purpose - these all cannot be a Coincidence IMO
• The nature is so creative and complicate - "every art has a designer"
