Because Native American doesn't mean "anyone native to America," it is a term created to mean and only mean the indigenous race of people that first settled here. If you're not within this race, you're not Native American despite being a native of America. The two terms do not mean the same thing. You can call yourself a native America, meaning someone who is native to America, but you are not Native America, with a capital "N" on the Native. Period.
