Well , I'm doing my movie news search & saw this very interesting article , please give it a read & share your thoughts .

I'm sure most of you know who this garbage is :

About a year and a half ago, twelve people were shot to death and countless more were injured during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. The shooter had a score to settle with the larger world and tragically decided to use that particular theater in Aurora, Colorado as his platform. Lawsuits and a whole lot of sadness followed, as well as a plenty of conversations about instituting security protocols.

Earlier, a man in Florida was shot to death at a screening of Lone Survivor. The victim apparently was texting his daughter before the movie began, and the gunman decided it was a capital offense. Then, for good measure, he shot the texter’s wife too because apparently, being associated with a texter is also a capital offense. Thankfully, doctors expect her to make a full recovery from her injuries, but even so, she’s now left to pick up the pieces and explain to her children that their father is never coming home.

That’s two high profile shootings in less than two years. Add those tragedies to the fights and heated arguments that occasionally take place in theaters and it paints a pretty ugly picture. In the coming days and weeks, the calls for metal detectors and security guards will likely ring louder and louder. It’s easy to see why too. It’s only natural to call into question our own safety when someone dies during an activity we frequently take part in, and it’s only natural to want a sense of peace and comfort inside a place we take our families.

Oops , I meant detectors , it's late here .

They're the metal detectors that we need but not the metal detectors we deserve.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to have them. However, in the case of the Batman shooter, he entered from an exit inside the showing. It might be not as feasible to have them at EVERY single entrance/exit

Main doors however, there should be no excuse to not have them

inb4 it's our right to bear arms

True , a door who opens from the inside & can't from outside would suffice tho u____u (with the exit door that is )

It's not necessary but it wouldn't hurt to put some in there.
That we'd be a bit closer to preventing a tragedy like this.

It doesn't open from the outside. He propped it open before he went to get the guns if my memory serves me correct

Thought the guy went out to his car grabbed his gun came back inside and shot the couple. Wasnt the guy a cop/ex-cop?

I don't think metal detectors are the issue here as then you should place them in every place where people gather in groups. They would probably also cause quite a delay as most people have some metal one them. Then you're going to have the same situations as in airports with long lines of people waiting to go in or out and places like theaters by default can have waiting lines. Such delays would probably not be that good for the economy if you count all the time lost together.

The real issue comes down again on what they hell is it so easy to get a gun in America? I also read about those people that got shot because they were texting and normally everyone knows about Aurora. But come one shooting some for texting in a movie? I mean I think everyone of us must have encountered an annoying person while watching a movie before, but who the hell shoots a person for that? Who the hell bring a gun to a movie? I mean you wouldn't even be able to watch the end of the movie as from the moment a gun is fired, everyone is going to go run outside screaming.

People get simply way too easily guns in America, but yeah that might just me being European where we don't have a gun-culture, something that's very vivid in America. Is it going to make tragic occurrences like Aurora or Florida go away? Of course not, I live in Belgium and we also have or fair share of such events, but still there is a difference in making it harder for such events to occur and practically giving the guns to psycho's on a silver platter. At least you are able to avoid many of such events or make them less severe.

A few years ago there was a big drama in my country where a guy invaded a crèche and killed two babies and one of the caretakers and injured several others with a knife. Imagine if that guy have had a gun, which would have been possibly the case in America as he planned it all out for quite a while, then there would have been more than just 3 dead.

All that stuff about that guns would save you when someone is shooting you is IMO complete BS. Yes if you are able to hit the attacker, but in most cases he has the upper hand due to the element of surprise. They even suggested I think that all teachers should have guns. Yeah, lets have a gunfight in a school full of children: teachers vs phsycho's. Not to mention how many teachers have it in them to shoot at their own school? Imagine they accidentally kill one of the children. That teacher might end up committing suicide not being able to live with the guilt.

My points is, is that metal detectors don't solve the origin of the problem.

Nah, but more importantly, people need to reinforce the no phone and no talking rule. I'm watching a movie!

Metal detectors are good to detect guns but won't solve the problems that comes from guns .
banning guns won't solve the problem fully either maybe more than the guns it's a problem that's comes with the man behind the guns who use a gun to solve problems .

There will be such times in your career where the metal detectors stop empowering you and become shackles. You'll understand my decision at that time.
