In Impel Down it's stated that Zoan awakened DF users regenerate faster. And they can all the time stay in that form...
However can they gain special awakening?
For example:JACK!!!!
He has horn swords and horns in his head (not original horns)!
Maybe since heis a Mammoth with horns he can summon horns like Kimimaru?
Jack also has senses to track water in his Mammooth mode since Elephants can track water easy.
Zoans copy also animals Nature (their senses not just image and strengh+reg)
And why didn't Jack stay in his Zoan Mode since he is a Zoan and he can regenerate really fast, after the fight with Fujitora and Sengoku??
It's all plot hole.Jack shouldn't have his body covered with paper XD
Tbh you seem to have created a reasoning to call something a plot hole rather than there being an actual plot hole. I'm also getting quite fed up with the whole awakening thing. Ever since DD used it, everyone and their cat seems to see awakenings left and right, but seriously it matters little. If all those things people are calling awakenings nowadays would really be awakenings, then what is supposed to be an extremely rare occurrence actually happened so many times we already consider it automatically to be the standard and that in return makes "awakening" somewhat redundant.
The answer to your supposed plot hole is rather simple: or Jack isn't an awakened DF user or we barely know anything about what "awakening" now exactly means or both.
Those awakened ones from ID can't change back. They are permanently like that, they also have almost no reasoning nor communications skills anymore. Their strong points are durability and recovery rate, which is something different than regeneration. The latter makes it sound like they somehow can regenerate limbs and such. You give the impression that Jack would recover 5 minutes after taken any kind of damage. Now you are talking about a special awakening because Jack differs from them. For starters there's already something wrong with that idea as you're saying that there's a special variation of an ability of which we barely know anything and that's already supposed to be extremely rare. Putting that aside because it's a special variation, it means that the regular characteristics of awakened users do not necessarily or less apply to him. So that his body was covered in bandages is not unusual.
Seeing it from another point of view the fact that he only has a few bandages after attacking a heavily guarded marine convoy containing two admiral-class people, can be considered as a sign he has extremely durability and recovery rate as by all means he should be dead or near dead.
I also don't get why you are talking about elephants being able to find water. Yes Zoan types gain abilities of their DF animals, however there's a limit to that and what use or relevance does the ability to find water have unless they're dying of thirst? And the OPverse is a world with one of the weirdest senses of fashion I've ever seen. Wearing decorative horns isn't even remotely unusual and even real horns aren't uncommon.
There is not so much a hole in the plot as a hole in your reasoning. Even in all the hypothetical cases; he isn't an awakened user, he is an awakened user, he is a special awakened user; there is nothing that undermines the plot. Even the ID zoans can be considered to be questionable. When the first were introduced, I never understood what they were supposed to be, so in the end I came to the conclusion they are literally awakened as in the DF awakened on its own, no one ate it. This would explain why they are essentially retarded and why they are used merely to guard prisoners as you would think that a person who achieved the rare ability to awaken, would be more useful on the frontline.
