Let me introduce a technology where virtually, every way we would protect ourselves on the internet and with our computers, be that passwords, secure connections, secured sites, locked routers, etc. would be vulnerable to attack if this technology came into the wrong hands. It means even the largest, most difficult encryption emulation known to man right now would be torn through in a matter of mere seconds, rendering any and all data vulnerable to theft. Simply put, unless we can find a new way of protecting data or encrypting it beyond this technology's power, we better not put anything out in the digital world that you wouldn't want seen...

Have you guessed already?

These are called "Quantum Computers" AKA every geek's and living computer geniuses' dream.

This technology packs the capability to tear through 1,000,000 256 bit encryptions every picosecond. Anyone with even a base knowledge of quantum computers should be scared as hell of them. Like I said in my first paragraph, that means that no matter how hard/difficult that password my be, let it be "434;2lk4j20t982jptjiPO@IJ(%@)#UTUGmn;llL#j4ï«U69581â≥5ç87e‼ï98♦6├9¥1a" as a password, is about as effective as "password". No matter how expensive your protection may me, it tears apart in less then a second.

With this technology in the wrong hands, anything on-line let it be DoD data, FBI/CIA files, can be torn apart and be broken in less then a pilisecond.

I might as well say... good job physicists...discover something, just give it away to humanity. They might be smart, in the same time, they'll call the doomsday of the world.

Great info :)
But if this technology will be 100% functional (from what i know there are only projects and maybe prototypes right now) then we can be sure sooner or later it will fall into the wrong hands, just like everything up until now.
Sadly, everything that was first designed to do good, ended up doing more harm :|
