Not at all. Naruto's messiah status only started getting interesting late Shippuden and it's the only thing that makes Naruto stand out.
Hard work is still evident at many points but the only reason handouts and power stealing started happening every other chapter was due to bad pacing, the theme is still there as much as Kishi's obsession with the Uchiha / Ootsutsuki and their awful conflicting abilities tried to ruin it. Show still good.
