Nah, the moment he was TnJed by Naruto and started to regret his past actions was the moment he decided that death was a fitting title for a criminal like him. He didn't necessarily want Sasuke to kill him, but more that he would accept death and accountability for his own crimes if Sasuke did want to kill him.
