Did Obito really know nothing about Bee's power?

After Sasuke defeated Itachi and Obito brought him to his side, he confidently sent Sasuke to fight Bee. Sasuke did in fact have Taka with him, but clearly even without his MS, Sasuke was by far the strongest member.

So for some reason, Obito was confident that Sasuke alone was enough to defeat Bee:

However, we see clearly that Bee was Sasuke's EXACT COUNTER IN MORE THAN ONE WAY. He was the first person to ever counter Sasuke's unblockable blade and was the first to cancel out his sharingan genjutsu:

Clearly Bee killed Sasuke twice in that fight, since Sasuke did not yet command Susanoo and was at a huge disadvantage considering Bee's skills. It was only because of his team that he was not finished off and got healed more than once:

So why the heck would Obito send him to his death like that? Did Obito not really know how capable Bee was? Obito had Zetsu and plotted the collection of the Biju for years, why would he underestimate Bee so much? Did he assume Sasuke would unlock both Susanoo and Amaterasu in the fight? Clearly Amaterasu was what saved the day but unless Sasuke went into the fight with both Susanoo and Amaterasu at his disposal, it was a suicide mission.

Something seems very wrong with Obito sending Sasuke on his mission to fight Bee with such a disadvantage. Clearly relying on the chance that Sasuke would unlock more than one MS jutsu during the fight and even live to that point in the first place considering the enemy at hand..... Obito was far too overconfident. Thoughts?

I don't think he anticipated the close working relationship between Bee and Gyuuki.

Bee barely managed to escape anyway.

I also believe that Obito didn't think about Sasuke's condition i.e. He wasn't fully recovered from the Itachi fight.

Obito underestimated Bee from the start & was talking out of his arse , but like most of the Uchiha , he was full of himself . Like you said he had Zetsu , so im sure he knew he was a perfect Jin etc .

He thought Sasuke had unlocked his MS true potential. After finding out he failed he made Sasuke develop his power by going through a gauntlet in the Kage summit.

Plot.

Remember, Sasuke is winning and looking like a badass at the beginning of the fight.

Then Kishi goes "Wait, I need this Bee character..."

But they only managed to defeat Bee out of pure luck. Sasuke was healed/revived twice during the fight and without him miraculously unlocking Amaterasu, they are all dead.

Not only that, but even if Sasuke unlocked Amaterasu, there was a chance he would not be able to control it and accidentally kill Bee in the process, ruining Obito's plans altogether. It was clearly a move on Obito's part that was beyond comprehension.

You would think so right? -_-

Sasuke had the MS for, what, a day? Obito made it clear to Sasuke that he now had Itachi's eye powers (ie Amaterasu and Susanoo) but did he really expect him to be able to use it in combat without any prior training? I think not

He was hoping Sasuke would overuse his MS, so that he can transplant itachi's eyes. IMO
Perhaps, but sending his prized pupil to his almost certain death would surely be a detriment to his plans.....

Lol sounds like Kishi to me :).

Wrong, it wasn't pure luck, it was teamwork. Bee's speed and elaborate swordsmanship was initially tricky, especially considering Sasuke's state and it took time to adjust. The second time that Sasuke got hit was because he was caught off-guard but thanks to Karin and Juugo's abilites - and to Bee adopting the full, slower Bijuu Mode they were able to get things back under control as a team.

Plus, Sasuke didn't 'miraculously' unlock Amaterasu, it was pretty much a given that it would be one of his MS powers.

He never said that Taka wasn't supposed to go with him, he just never implied that they were going with him.

Akatsuki always travel in pairs, so it was safe to assume that Taka was joining him

He later found Sasuke and said he failed, that the eight tails pulled a fast one on you.

^^Didn't underestimate bee, but he overestimate Sasuke.

He later sent him to fight the kages to draw out his true powers (Susanoo).
