This is exactly what I believe too. SS was already called a crack pairing and it's like Gaiden did nothing but amplify that and even added more flaws on top

Gaiden is what told us Sasuke has been missing for like 10 years. If Gaiden never happened, SS fans wouldnt have to defend that

The Gaiden was all about Sarada and how she found her will of fire...so I don't think it hurt SS, just made us understand their relationship. Even if they are dimensions away the feelings between those three would remain intact...unlike some LOL

this. thats literally the message. sometimes it pays to look at things objectively as possible. basically it showed another aspect of sasukes character that we havent seen for a while.

sasuke was away for so long but that didnt stop him from
-taking the blame away from sakura when she apoligised. sasuke knows hes at fault for the mess and he acknowledged it. since when did he take responsibility for his actions? maturity on his part.
-acknowledging her as his wife twice with the second time defending her abilities and showing confidence that she can deal with the enemy. sarada was happy to hear that
-saved her, then hovered took care of her while they were in battle, even though she already told him she can heal herself. but he went the extra mile. something hes never done for a long while

-i noticed sakura never once questioned if sasuke loves her or not from the times sarada asked questions, its like she already knows, saying sasuke cant come back because both of them are important to him. in order the words the success of his mission ties to the safety of his family.
-sasuke basically confirmed himself that their feelings are connceted, hence why sarada exists in the first place. and in the end all 3 bonded eventually etc

matter of a fact only time sasuke seemed to smile all throughout gaiden was when either of them were concerned(sarada about to hit shin and the ending scenes, all 3 bore smiles)

basically their problems doesnt diminish their connections for each other, all 3 of them. i think thats what kishi attempted to portray.

Yes, it absolutely did!

I knew Sasuke wouldn't have been around much bc of his duties backing up Naruto protecting the world.

But never in a million years did I imagine he would've been gone for years on end with ZERO contact with his family.

I'm as flabbergasted today as I was months ago when I first found out about it.

This pairing is a joke. Its only saving grace is Sarada.

Sasuke's absence was Kishi's compromise IMO.

He gave in to making the pairing canon, but said hell no he ain't gonna have Sasuke living at home.

I mean, my goodness.....Sasuke is literally a worse father than Gin in Hunter X Hunter.

At least Gin kept tabs on Gon.

I really and truly thought that was how Sasuke would've been...but nope!

Gaiden had me pissed off honestly. The pairings do not make sense to start...I know many disagree with me but the pairings are strange in my opinion. NH is fine, I just don't think Naruto ended up with who he truly wanted. Sakura did end up with who she wanted..i guess in the end but Kishi did an excellent job of literally spitting, pissing, and stomping all over any positivity that could have came out of this pairing. SS could have been a wonderfully entertaining love story if it had been written better....

One individual did write a awfully nice paragraph on the positives we got to see through SS and he/she is right. I know that is the truth behind what Kishi was getting at, but Jesus he already trampled Sakura's character enough...he couldn't have at least given her the prince charming in Sasuke? like 12 years? seriously? We say for safety but who doesn't know that Sasuke has a child and wife? Is that secret info that I missed out on?
