I found that the Chairman of the magic council (Guran Doma) and the previous King of Edolas (Faust) look very much alike and that their roles in both worlds are pretty high, my theory is that they are both counter parts of edolas and earthland. Wouldn't this mean that Guran Doma is Jellals Father like Mystogan being the son of Faust. If so why didn't Guran sentience Jellal to life in prison instead of death.

If memory serves, Faust was the king of Edolas and the father of Mystogan. Maybe you are right. If we are to go by that, they could be related somehow. Good find by the way.

Am I the only one apparently who instantly assumed that they are simply each others counterparts in the two worlds from the moment Guran Doma was introduced? I thought that was pretty much a no-brainer.

I know I might give Natsu too much credit now but in the manga (chapter 96) he mentions that he considers Faust as Makarov's counterpart, and I have a feeling that he hit the nail on the head with that prediction. I base this mainly on Natsu's ability to judge people's character and because he tends to have an insight on stuff that others haven't even considered.
So basically I don't think they have anything in common other than they might use the same hairdresser :D

^That's what I kinda thought too.

However, you have an interesting point, maybe Natsu was wrong when he assumed that. You're point could very well be true.
