What kind of technique is it? What are their conditions? It's just like Shunshin no Jutsu, which Shinobis are using outside of a fight to disappear from the place. I remember that an Anbu used the same technique after he has spoken with Tsunade, to sink into the ground. Shunshin no Jutsu varies. Here's another kind of Shunshin:

It's not a technique suitable for fight.

Those obviously are nothing but excuses in order to annul Orochimaru's technique. Pitiful.

Shunshin no Jutsu is always made up of smoke, that fire you speak of was a misinterpretation in the anime. Yet even that fire is not comparable to the technique Orochimaru used. You're also badly mistaken about Shunshin no Jutsu only being used outside of a fight.

you can clearly see the difference between Shunshin no Jutsu and Orochimaru's earth-melting-like burrowing technique. I strongly advise you to re-read some chapters.

Don't forget the Anbu, who dissapeared by the same way as Orochimaru, after talking to Tsunade. Orochimarus "earth-melting-like burrowing technique" is just a nameless, unknown technique whose condition are also unknown. It's not even a technique mentioned in a databook or anywhere. Besides, Orochimaru used the earth release in the anime only. So let's stay by Orochimarus known "techniques" my dear.

? :'D The Jutsu's conditions are clear: Orochimaru can burrow himself (similliar to melting) into earth and stone without taking much time, even after being hit by Tsunade. Apart from that there is a named, similiar technique used by him. Use Narutopedia to get some information.

Anime mistake, again. Apart from that, Orochimaru's not necessarily the only person capable of using that or a similiar technique - obviously. It's just a technique that perfectly suits to avoid Chibaku Tensei.
