In a manga like Naruto, is it acceptable or is it not?

Discuss.

It is a plot device whereby a seemingly unsolvable problem is suddenly and abruptly resolved by the contrived and unexpected intervention of some new event, character, ability or object. Depending on how it is done, it can be intended to move the story forward when the writer has "painted themself into a corner" and sees no other way out, to surprise the audience, to bring the tale to a happy ending, or as a comedic device.

Deus ex machina translated mean: "god from the machine", og more commonly "plot device"

It's where a plot or problem is suddently explained/solved in a story - by adding a new character/inventing something new.. ..
basically it's what we kinda know as "Plot no jutsu"..

Is it acceptable? sure on smaller things. Im still not convinced yet that the sages tools will defeat madara. Sure they may have a role to play, but I doubt they will just seal madara up.

And honestly, I dont view the sages tools as "asspull no jutsu". Sure the timeing of the tools reappearance, and the way they appear is definately plot. But I dont view it as a asspull. (once the kyuubis chakra was extracted from them, they would make an appearance again.)(the first juubi, they still held the 9 tails chakra. But after the chakra was pulled out, they were just sitting in gedos stomach, empty)

But only time and manga will tell if my opinion is right or not.

Izanami is a fine example of Deus Ex Machina.

Manda I think is a good example of dues ex machina. They both wore themselves down to nothing, then randomly sasuke summons a huge snake, and gets inside and everything before the explosion. Kishi did back himself in a corner here.

IMO Izanagi was foreshadowed, when kishi created amatersu and tsukyomi.(same as izanami). When it was first used, it wasnt really needed to solve a problem. Kishi didnt really back himself in a corner to where it needed to be used.(and since it wasnt needed, it wasnt really a dues ex machina.)

Sasuke hawk wasnt exactly a dues ex machina either. Sasuke couldve safely landed in the water below, and reentered the fight. Now it was certainly a form of plot no jutsu, that even now has not been explained.

It is certainly close to being a dues ex machina. IMO it isnt.

I think it's alright to use every once in a while, but using it excessively or just ridiculously is uncalled for.

Well, of course it is. Deus ex machina is used in almost every shounen manga. There are literally tens (if not hundreds) of examples of it in Naruto alone. Simply put, it's when a plot altering revelation is made without any former hint, mention or build up.

I'd have to say that Izanagi isn't a DxM. During Sasuke vs Danzo, it did indeed make Sasuke's job harder but it hardly altered the plot. The outcome would have been the same whether it existed or not. The whole Izanagi and Danzo thing was just a build up for Tobi vs Konan where the technique actually mattered plot-wise. But because we knew about Izanagi before Tobi vs Konan, it disqualifies it from being a DxM.

Minato appearing inside Naruto in the Pein Arc. That's a DxM.
If it didn't happen, Naruto would have lost complete control and the plot would have taken a different turn. Plus, Minato storing his own chakra with Naruto hadn't been mentioned at any point before the happening. It came completely out of nowhere and changed the course of the fight. DxM.

Koto Amatsukami against Pein was not a DxM. It had been mentioned before. Not as Koto Amatsukami, but Naruto had been given the crow way before it happened. It wasn't an arsepull out of no where. It was just a revelation regarding a mystery in the plot. Rooted way, way before it actually happened.

Yes, please :p

Hagoromo Ootsutsuki should make appearance to help save the world along with SA and Naruto and Sasuke.

LOL... Kishi has employed man Dues ex Machina in his story. Quite common in manga and stories for kids/teens in general.

I'm not sure what you're asking. If you question is the fact that this device is used in the manga? I say, "yes".

Acceptable is not the matter here...

Possible? Yes

But I don't like this possibility, it's way too cliché, it would turn the manga into a carnival of powerups or summoning of the dead ones...

The current villain is in godly levels, another god is just against the Sage's will of finding peace through love.

Yes but Kabuto, a man who has a vast amount of jutsu in his arsenal, including the countless he has access to via Edo Tensei, lost to Izanami...

Izanami was acceptable imo. It wasn't completely out of the blue, seeing as Kishi made sense out of it with the whole Izanagi spamming Uchiha.

Through I find your reasoning has sense, we have to remember that Izanami/Izanagi are Shinto gods by definition, so 'deus ex machina' is kind of literal in this case.

...Even Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and almost all the techniques/weapons related to the Sage are Deus Ex Machina.

Even the Ame-no-nuboko, the Kusanagi no Tsurugi, Yata no Kagami, Totsuka no Tsurugi, Yasakani no Magatama, Amaterasu, Tsukiyomi, Susano'o... EVERYTHING is related to deities.
