Actually sasuke never defeated diedara,they were both out of chackra but diedara went crazy and blew himself up cuz he didint want sasuke to live(he's an uchiha hater xD).
His death was necessary for the story to move on.....

Deidara is my favorite Naruto character! Don't you think he should have lived and Sasuke defeated him just because he is a huge part to the story but i do like where the story is and how it was made and all of it but I think Deidara was strong enough for both of them to live. No disrespect to Kishi i love how he made Naruto and every detail.(=
