Well, I usually do a disk clean up and defragment my computer daily. My computer says it needs 15% free space to do a defragmentaion, but it needs 16%, due to some reserved space thing (no clue, not a computer genius ). Well, I installed MSN, and then I went back and removed a bunch of programs from it except the ones I wanted, and ended up with 14% free space. Well, when I try to defrag my computer, it gives me a pop-up:

Volume OS ( C: ) has 14% free space, but only 13% is available for use by Disk Defragmenter (due to reserved system space). To run effectively, Disk Defragmenter requires at least 15% usable free space. There is not enough disk space to properly complete the operation. Delete some unneeded files on your hard disk, and then try again.

Do you want to run Disk Defragmerter now anyways?
Yes/No.

Well, I ran it, and nothing seems out of the ordinary.

I don't want to remove programs from my computer anymore, because I'm afraid I might remove something important.

Am I doing any harm to my computer by "forcing" it to defragment?

And if so, any advice on how to get the free space I need? (Suggestions of files that could be removed?)

the percentages are cpu usage if you are running XP or Vista (home basic/premium)

to make enough room for you defragmenter to run
1.) CTRL + ALT + DEL

from here select the open task manager option

2.) select Processes tab

3.) end a few processes

from here scan through your processes for the ones that are not 100% needed
I.E. (and programs that are not mandatory to run the OS, anything windows live, yahoo, programs of this caliber )

if you need further explanation let me know
