Debate: Who’s the most ruthless Naruto character to date

For me, Nagato is the most brutal savage in the NV, in ways that other characters simply cannot compete.
This manga scan alone proves the effort he took to completely purge the world of all ties to Hanzo.

The Uchiha massacre pales in comparison to this PLUS, that was done by two individuals. Madara’s puppeteer manipulation of shinobi doesn’t have quite the same “idgaf factor” as Nagato’s actions.

There are obviously more characters that I could list but I don’t want to give you guys ideas. Anyway, what individual do you think is the most ruthless, in terms of effort and bloodlust?

In that case, it has to be Shikamaru. He planted Hidan's body six feet under ground so a tree or two could grow from his corpse. He thought as far ahead as that and the fact Hiden wouldn't die and escape any pain from then on, but trapped there so he would suffer loathing Shikamaru for what he did and also have a chance of reprentence so he could enter the astral world, but also deprive him of that since he would almost be alive for an eternity, unless someone happened to dig up a hole in that spot he's buried in.

But I'll just throw out another bet on Indra since the boy got so salty he decided to return again and again for 1,000~ish years. I guess Danzo is a safe bet though. He was willing to let a chunk of the village die just to become hokage, pressured the massacre, and entrapped Itachi in both meanings of the word.

I would give you Indra, if he was able to control his reincarnate’s bodies but Danzo is definitely up there. Actually, when Yahiko was killed in the anime, Danzo was standing with Hanzo lmfao.

I don't know if they're necessarily worse but I feel Oro and Sasori should be included in the discussion. Sasori used to kill you and then make you his puppet, that's some pretty ruthless shit to make corpse puppets of the people you defeated.

I don't know if they're necessarily worse but I feel Oro and Sasori should be included in the discussion. Sasori used to kill you and then make you his puppet, that's some pretty ruthless shit to make corpse puppets of the people you defeated.

I think Orochimaru more so than Sasori. Orochimaru had a plethora of kidnapped victims that he experimented on, used for target practice and bred for their genes to harvested. He also aligned himself with Danzo for a time, so there’s that too.

For people who are assuming Madara is ruthless: yes. you are very right in your affirmations.

But we've got analyse things:

Approaching Obito: He could've been 1000x times more ruthless. Like: or you do what I'm saying, or you die. Or someting like that.
He is ruthless manipulative. But nor truly and cruelly ruthless.

Approaching the Shinobi Alliance: he is freaking warrior that likes his job very much. Nothing more, mothing less. lol

When we analyse how ruthless a person is, I guess we should see their everyday lives.

When you say ruthless are you referring to specific actions or a character in their entirety?

I would say the #1 is between Danzo and Blackzetsu and I will explain why.

When you look at the actions of other characters you notice they did things in retaliation or for the greater good:

2) What Nagato did was ruthless but Hanzo actually brought that on himself when he forced him to take out Yahiko.

3) Itachi actions were ruthless but they were for the greater good

4) Orochimaru was a scientist so naturally his view on life is pure mathematical with little to no remorse for others. You can call him ruthless but he's not trying to be that way.

5) Sasori was extremely ruthless as he completely locked away his emotions to pursue his own agenda. I dont believe he takes #1 spot simply because in the end he simply wanted to be loved

6) Gaara just wanted to be loved and acted out based on the hatred that was given to him.


Anyways I vote Danzo as the most ruthless simply because his only motive was himself. He constantly used and discarded people for his own agenda under the umbrella of "For the leaf or Root" while simultaneously going against the very thing he was supposed to protect. It wasn't for science, revenge or hate. He simply did it just to get where he needed. A True Sociopath.

Lets look at what Danzo did.

5) Forced comrades to kill one another (Sai,Dan,Kabuto and his Mother)
6) Sabotaged missions for his own benefit (Leaf Assault in part 1/Pain Arc attack)
7) Used conflict to his advantage even when it was his own people (Uchiha massacre/Pain assault/Nine tails incident)
8) Aided Orochimaru in his experiments and possibly hid him just so he could get Senju/Sharingan upgrades
9) Countless Shinobi died under him for the sake of his own Agenda
