Braht and Kurome are my faves if that counts for anything. And Syura being the best character is your own opinion.

If we're talking about how well written they are, the best character of AgK is either Syura or Kurome. Not so sure about Seryu, but she's up there, I suppose.

To me I feel he's one dimensional and selfish in desire. He doesn't have any tragic background nor a reason for his actions besides a corrupt father that he's supposed to live up to, who's inevitably going to get slaughtered regardless.

And this is where you are wrong. I'll admit that Syura (and Kurome) are pretty generic in general, but they're definitely god tier for something like AgK. Syura has reasoning for his actions, somewhat. Two actually. First one being that he wants to surpass his father in terms of how corrupted he is as he believes that surpassing one's parent is the ultimate form of filial piety.

His second reasoning for wanting to surpass his father and doing those actions is because he hates boredom, he wants to take the throne for himself (in other words; he's willing to betray his father even though he respects him so much, also ultimately surpassing him) and become the Emperor because he wants to make the world a fun place. His hatred for boredom is also a reason why he speaks of everyone as his personal toys and calls murdering ''playtime''. The second reasoning wasn't really too well explained or anything in the manga, but was explained better in the second route of AgK (Anime). It's also the same reason he rapes women. He doesn't do it for the pleasure, he does it so he can see them break down in his own arms, because it's fun to him.

Basically, he has motives and goals, something that already makes him better than any other villain in AgK and most AgK characters really. His character is executed better as a villain than anyone else because he wants to get whatever he wants even if no one allows him and such, he tends to pull a lot of things with his action like creating chaos inside the Empire (Jaegers vs Wild Hunt, teleporting Tatsumi and Lubbock into the palace, etc.). We both know that AgK chapters were more exciting when Syura was around because he kept on causing too much shit.

I didn't post an argument. I posted an opinion which included a point in favour of one. That won't detract from the entire debate. There's more to this match-up than one's ability to get a one shot Genjutsu off.

Ain't even mad at you in specific, rather annoyed by the fact that people cannot distinguish normal VS threads from debates (not that I grasped at straws in the first place).

I was speaking in a future sense, as in if you begin the small points, someone counters (presumably an idiot like Bantos who always spews his idiocy when disagreeing), and it keeps growing and growing until your debates are longer than the actual official debate. It's how it always goes, 6 pages fill out before a debate actually begins; meanwhile every argument the two debaters had has already been argued.
