Whenever I see a film or show, I almost immediately picture myself in the action, normally as an overly important characterxd It doesn't work most of the time, obviously, but I gotta say, I did enjoy the way this one turned out, so I decided to write it
To avoid confusion, I suppose I should let you know now that all these quotes at the beginning are taken directly from the last episode of the anime, in case you never saw it. I really think it worked out great, though, and I hope you do, as well. Enjoy
"MATSUDA, YOU IDIOT!! WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU’RE SHOOTING AT?! ...Don’t screw with me!"
"What was it all for, then? What about your dad? What the hell did he die for!?"
"My dad? …Hehehehehehe, you mean Soichiro Yagami? That’s right, Matsuda. In this world, all those earnest people like him who fight for justice, they always lose. You want a world where people like that are made to be fools!? I know you understand, so kill the others! SHOOT THEM!!"
"…You led your own father to his death…and now that he’s gone, you call him a fool!?"
"…His blood!"
"AAAAAHHH!!!"
"I’ll kill him…I’ll kill him…HE HAS TO DIE!!"
"…Damn you. Rrgh…Mikami, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!? WRITE DOWN THEIR NAMES!! Write ‘em down! KILL THEM NOW!!"
"It’s finally over…isn’t it, Near?"
"…Yes."
"Where are you, Misa!? …Where’s Takada!? …Someone…anyone…what do I do now…?"
Doubled over on the ground, covered in his own blood, …after six years…, Light Yagami’s status as Kira had finally been revealed. Even after disposing of his biggest obstacle all those years before, …in the end, through the work of his successors, L was still able to finally solve his greatest case…almost. The faint sound of a deep sigh was heard by all that were present before an unfamiliar voice filled the warehouse.
"Light, …I must say, you’ve left me utterly disappointed…and disgusted."
Every last set of eyes inside the Yellow Box warehouse immediately doubled in size. For the first time ever, or at least as far back as he could remember, Near’s face was filled with emotion…and that emotion…was fear. For the next two minutes, the only noises that could be heard within the warehouse…were that of a clicking pen, the flapping of pages, the sound of a man sliding down a rope, and footsteps…such a dreadful sound. The next noise came from Near, in the form of two words that he thought he would never say over the course of his entire life.
"…That’s impossible."
Their mystery guest, it seems, had been hiding all along among the metal brackets that held the roof of the building in place, having reached them through use of a rappelling hook. As he stepped into their view, he pulled out what appeared to be a small, red lollipop, which he slowly unwrapped and placed in his mouth before putting the wrapper into his pocket. Taking the next few seconds to suck on the small piece of candy, he pulled it out of his mouth to address Near.
"You know, …Nate?"
He knew his name, which immediately hinted to everyone else that he also knew theirs, as well. All it took was three little words to confirm Near’s suspicions…that everybody present was about to die.
"Had you not been so…cocky, for lack of a more fitting term, you might have actually told your team to inspect this place upon your arrival. It seems neither you nor this Mello you’ve spoken of were capable of surpassing L, even if you had been together. In fact,…"
He took a short pause to hold back an outburst of laughter. He almost couldn’t help it. He had planned this out perfectly, …but just what did that entail?
"…I’m not entirely certain that even HE would’ve seen this coming. …Either way, he must be so disappointed in the two of you right now, …just as I am in you, Light."
He turned around and began walking towards the man whom he had just addressed. Not having the energy to stand up, all Light could do was slide back across the floor and away from his supposed attacker.
"I've been waiting for this day for six years, ...but even after all those times I've pictured this outcome in my head, ...it still turned out better than I expected. And, put quite frankly, ...it's because you've left me no room to feel sorry for you...and THAT makes it all the easier for me to do this."
"GET AWAY FROM ME!! WHO ARE YOU!!? …WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT WITH ME!!?"
His movements were halted as his back pressed up against a large crate. Just as he was four minutes ago, Light had been left without an escape route. To his shock, though, once the man stood directly in front of him, he merely knelt down before him, his eyes completely locked onto his. They froze there for what seemed to be an eternity, while Light's mind continued its attempt to answer all the questions he now had about this man.
"Who the hell is this guy!? Why is he here and how in the world did he know we would be here today!?"
Now that he had a full view of his face, Light noticed that this man appeared to be of his own age, though slightly younger, and his hair was jet black, rather shaggy, and almost two inches longer than Teru’s. His eyes were a dark blue, though anyone with unclear vision would have easily mistaken them for a full black, and, despite the high level of sophistication he had shown so far, his clothing gave him a highly disturbing similarity to L, though he did see a few exceptions, in that he wore shoes and a dark grey sweatshirt, but the white shirt beneath it and the dark blue pants that he had on were filled with excessive wrinkles. He also had two rings on his left ring finger that looked strikingly like wedding bands, one for a groom and another for a bride, as well as a golden cross with a small likeness to Jesus Christ mounted on it, held around his neck by a thick, gold chain. In his current state of mind, however, none of these, including the lollipop, gave Light the clues he needed to deduce his identity, at least not until he noticed the smile on his face as he spoke one more time.
"…Looks like you’re in checkmate, Light."
A wink of his right eye immediately followed this statement and almost any terror in Light’s face disappeared as reality hit him…hard.
"…Uric?"
