In chapter 15 of two blue vortex Boruto revealed to kawaki the reason he doesn't use his karma anymore...
He had a feeling like he was dying while still conscious and aware...
This actually makes alot of sense because Momoshiki is technically dead but his soul hasn't been extinguished like Ishiki's.
Therefore when Boruto activates his karma seal it's like he's resurrecting Momoshiki inside of his body. The interesting thing is that Momoshiki used his dna to heal Boruto and lost the ability to resurrect completely.
This caused Boruto's karma seal to function differently from others and it began to meld their thoughts together.
I believe this is possible because Boruto died once already...
