Dragonball and DBZ for sure ..... Dragonball series is much better than anyother series i've ever read...
and people who say DBZ didn't have character depth, story was predictable etc.... are you f**king kidding me
Dragonball started as a martial arts manga with magic fantasy -> Aliens with radits, vegeta, freeza then -> Android Si-Fi with cell -> back to magic fantasy Buu ........are you guys saying you were able to predict all these things the first time you read it when the series was still coming :|
name me any other manga which combines 3 or 4 separate main genre into a single manga and made it epic beyond imagination
now DBZ may seem predictable bcos you have already seen the entire series or know the outcome for every battle..... also reading other mangas influenced by Dragonball first and reading/seeing DBZ afterward skews your perception....making you think DZB plot is predictable
is the plot of DragonBall complex-NO but that is the main plus point of DB.... anyone from 10yr old kid to 30yr old adult can understand and enjoy the manga/anime to the core .....thats why it has such an influence
another epic thing about DB is it influenced an entire generation of manga writers...
even naruto's character influenced by Goku character design
Goku and Naruto - wears orange and blue outfit ,protects their friend, goofy ,eats a lot , but when it comes to fights they knows what to do, doesnt start the fight and always held back in some training/injury so the friends buy them time then they comes and beat the sh!t out of main villan in the arc/saga, but isn't ruthless with the power and doesn't try kill everyone he fights
Vegeta and Sasuke- wears white and violet outfit, arrogant, both everyone in their clan/planet killed off except a select few, proud of their lineage, rivel to the main character, but main character tried to treats them as friends ,ruthless, kills even their comrade.
so bear this in mind before saying DB is bad/inferior to naruto
without Dragonball there wont be naruto
Sure the elements and focuses of the story changed over time, but that doesn't change the point. In the end, all the villains were pretty much just jerks who had a bone to pick with Earth or the good guys FROM Earth and thus had some obsession with blowing up the planet. Except for I guess Buu, who was a mindless berserker who, well, wanted to destroy the planet as well. If you wanna talk about evolving stories then JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a MUCH greater example. From part 1 to part 6 the only way you could see the connections is through the art style (which even then developed dramatically) and through Dio's existence. Dragon Ball Z, yeah sure the species/types of enemies changed but in terms of story and the villains themselves nothing ever changed. Frieza was a pretty shallow villain, Cell was a pretty shallow villain, and to be frank Buu was even worse than those. You could always, always predict how things would go in the end because that's the type of manga it is. You could say the same about Naruto in a way but at least Naruto has more variety in the long run with its plot.
3/4 more genres that made things epic beyond imagination? Um, 20th Century Boys? Fullmetal Alchemist? How about Future Diary which has action, drama, horror, psychological, romance, AND thriller genres all as pretty important factors of the story? Dragon Ball Z's genres are pretty much restricted to the action/adventure and MAYBE comedy if you account for part 1 and a little bit of Z. But that's about it. DBZ is not bursting with many genres if that's honestly what you're claiming.
And yeah DBZ is a very accessible series and that's its appeal. But that's also the reason why it's not really THAT great plotwise. You can jump in anywhere BECAUSE it's a very repetitive, simplistic story that's pretty much solely about the action. It doesn't offer much character development or story depth because then people would have to follow from episode 1 and let's face it: People are lazy and that's why it's so easy to get into Z. Does that make it a top tier series? I can't say so.
It's obvious that Naruto takes elements from DBZ. And? Overall it takes what's good about it and makes it better. Characters, story, emotional value, everything about it is just better in the long run. Saying that something's better BECAUSE it's original is a bad, bad argument. Kanon and Air preceded Clannad yet a vast majority of the Key fanbase would agree that Clannad is superior to both of those. It's a matter of development and taking what works along with new ideas.
Dragon Ball Z is the GREATEST CREATION OF MANKIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't go that far. DBZ is overshadowed by oh so many animes in terms of quality as far as I can tell.
that is ur opinion. I love DBZ but its old. For naruto, i love to watch it but too much filler.. and too much flashback it getting me tired of it.. yes dbz always keep people back to life because its what "dragon ball" is about.. when i watch it made me exciting and so colourful also so dreamful like when u dead u go to other world.. naruto sort of boring like on the planet earth that all.. naruto is just stop the enemies, save sasuke and some of funny.. not many plot same for dbz.. dbz have many characters who are not came back.. they are too differemt to compare.. i will go for dbz because their filler is great and not much of flash back that all
one peice is the crappest ever i have seen..
It is my opinion but the problem is that most people seem to ride on nostalgia to claim that DBZ is "the best anime ever." Again, filler doesn't concern me because I read the manga for both of them. And flashbacks can get excessive with Naruto but that's where character development is, something that DBZ is very lacking in. And it's not bad that DBZ brings people back to life, it's that they find loopholes to do this for characters who become completely unimportant in the next arc. It's pointless and they go the extra mile to break the established rules to bring people back because it's a Shounen and Shounen are happy rainbow and bunny stories where good guys always win. And I hope you aren't honestly claiming Naruto's plot is as repetitive as DBZ's "Enemy comes to Earth, good guys fight them off, some people die and they get the Dragon Balls to bring them back. Rinse and repeat" plot.
One Piece is the crappiest you have ever seen? I bet you have never even taken the time to watch/read One Piece. As a story? One Piece utterly CRAPS on either Naruto or DBZ. The adventure element is much more compelling, EVERY important character gets great development, the action doesn't feel so cliche, and overall it's just a damn good series. It IS true that One Piece rarely kills important characters. But when it does? Oh you can feel it. The climax of One Piece is superior to Naruto or DB in practically every way and the deaths that took place hit me much harder than ANY event in either Naruto or DBZ.
DBZ started blowing up planets since episode 0, while where close to the end of naruto and all we seen is someone blowing up a country with the worlds strongest beast. dbz>>>onepiece>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>naruto
Well strengthwise that's true but I don't think that's the topic at hand here.
Otherwise Gurren Lagann solos all of those.
well look at it this way, without dbz, most OP naruto chararcters would not exist. In fact the fighting style would be horrible and the s06p techniques some wouldn't exist like CT moon creator= powerball vegeta's tech to turn to great ape and shinra tensei= weaker form of kiai cannon attack etc.
I hope you realize that the examples you gave hardly correspond at all. Chibaku Tensei is a giant gravitational ball that takes in everything around it. Vegeta's powerball was a glowing energy orb (or something of the sort) that was meant to be a makeshift moon so he could transform, nothing alike.
Shinra Tensei is only similar to that at face value. And if you wanna get into specifics then DBZ did not make that original, attacks of that sort have been around for a while now.
Dragon Ball/Z will always be the greatest Anime and Manga of all time. Naruto should not even be compared to the Legendary franchise.
Greater than 20th Century Boys? Greater than Gurren Lagann? Greater than Fullmetal Alchemist? Greater than Code Geass? Greater than Clannad? Greater than Future Diary?
Sorry but I can't agree on that at all. As a plot even Naruto is superior, DBZ is far below even more series out there. I know people have their opinions but objectively speaking DBZ is by no means "the greatest anime/manga of all time." It's just not amazing enough to deserve such a great title.
