Thank you! I couldnt have said it better myself!! Clearly a part of this guys childhood has died. DBZ is a legand, and as Melizzle stated, brought Anime/Manga to america. Not only do i greatly thank DBZ for that, but i grew up watching it at a young age, so it's also thanks to DBZ that i love Anime and Manga in the first place. Anime/Manga has been my life, and i thank DBZ for that. Maybe you should to ninjasaurus89. You are on a Anime/Manga site.
Indeed I feel DBZ- no, KNOW DBZ to be legendary, and is also what made countless of millions interested in the genre, but... We also have to consider that this is only feel of most, after all...
I like how DBZ Kai has Noreen fillers, but am also disappoint that it also lacks in other departments, as well... (less violence or some such am told).
Long live the 13 DBZ movies! (not so much the IRL version! Gah!)
Edit: oh, and DB GT was disgraceful indeed, and Resengan Surikan = discrocto disc indeed, haha.

to be honest wehn i was young and started wacthing dbz i thought it was anotehr cartoon like on cartoon network. and naruto too. i had no idea what anime and manga were untill naruto shippuden started airing on disney xd and then i found out about it as manga on the internet and after 3 naruto manga sites got shut down i came here xd but if dbz did do that i must thank akira somehow >_>

kai has as much violence but more cursing and more serious dialogue with alot more talk about death and stuff.

Infact that is one of my complaints about Naruto sometimes it gets to whiny like "look at my sad backstory wah."
vegeta = sad backstory and cries more than any other character besides chichi
tenshinhan = sad backstory
piccolo = sad conversion to good.
naruto has orochimaru and zetsu to match those two.

when something is pure action, you know it will therefore only appeal to small children and teens with ADD. plus most dont even see the real dbz. they see the bastardised horrible commercialised english dub. and the fights arent even that good. lots of zippy lines, lots of light shows and generic energy blasts. no martial arts or skill or thought put into it.
gohan vs cell was a garbage fight. way too onesided and boring and gohan was way too out of character.
Well for Z that is the case. It seriously lacked the martial arts. Okay, not seriously but it went unnoticed due to the light shows.
Not the case for DB though.
And for someone who seems to be a fan of DB/Z, you seem to have a fairly negative view on it. I haven't once seen you say anything remotely positive about it.

Are you livid? No one cares about Astro boy, not once did i see it on TV as a kid. No games. Adds. Toys. Nothing. Some people havent even heard of Astro boy, and if so they thought it was just a saturday morning cartoon. It was all about DBZ. It was Akira if you rreeaallllyy want to get technical. Astro boy may have came her first, but its DBZ that's still on TV TODAY. DBZ is STILL making fans, and how long have the two been in America?

no it wasnt. when z came to america, people had already watched fansubbed japanese version so when ocean dub came out and it sucked hard, that fanbase went nuts. especially regarding vegetas voice.
astro boy came to america in the 50s.

yeah as dbz kai which cuts down on teh violence and blood even bardocks scar didn't appear in it it was just a scar i doubt little kids would get scared of a scar compared to death every episode O_O and friza sounds like a girl in kai he sounds completly differnt then he does in the first dbz ( unless its just the games i have played with friza in some recent games but not the anime)
anyway stuff like dbz and naruto also caused many kids to kill them selfs trying to "fly" or climb walls with their "chakra" or try to use sand burreial. ( only death i can confrim from naruto imitators though is the sand one)
which gave anime a bad name thus why toonami was canceled and why they don't air it anymore unless its censored like dbz kai or lame gt naruto isn't even aired anymore and before then it was so censored you couldn't call it a real fight or a real anime. ( they even changed the anime of sexy jutsu on Disney XD) they should air it somewhere else besides cartoon places like Disney so real fans can enjoy it instead of no blood or nothing at all ( naruto shippuden is my first example)
it was really thanks to anime that some kids died and thats why you don't see one piece or naruto airing anymore, only bleach is still animated on adult swim. ( well in america i know japan still airs them)
because naruto had more sexual scenes more impossable things more deaths a messed up emo kid ( sauske) and smoking
one piece didn't last long on toonnami because
sanji goes insane over every women smokes and the blood. how can you even have luffy vs mr. 0 with out the blood on his hands? and mr> 2 showing namis boobs when he was transformed as her ( theres probably worse but i'm only up to chapter 221)
anyway my final case: dbz kai is just a censored version of dbz. dbgt still airs and i liked some parts of gt but still fights kinda sucked :\ naruto dbz and one piece are all reason why toonami is gone and why some kids died not saying that i hate these animes i love them but still they did cause some trouble.
the best idea would have been to first of all not air it on cartoon network or disney XD and try some other place like i don't know any place make a new channel if you have to for the anime lovers in america since anime is clearly yes cartoon like but not intended for 5 year olds :| or even 10 year olds most animes should be pg 13.

DBZ does have depth.
Vegeta was a ruthless prince who's whole race was killed when he was only a kid by Frieza then Goku defeats Frieza the person he was planning on defeating all these years and not only that but he achieved super saiyan the legendary form of the saiyan race so his pride was damaged and everytime Vegeta would reach a new level of power Goku would always surpass him i think i've gone on about Vegeta enough.
Piccolo was once the fearsome King Piccolo but then he meet Gohan who showed him what friendship was about.
but that's enough for now the point is dbz does have some depth maybe not as much as naruto but to say it has no depth is crazy.

wrong. thats nicktoons, not kai. uncut kai exists. in fact i cant believe you think every version of kai is the nicktoons version. its been out for 3 years.
he sounds much less like a girl actually and more like a sophistacated badass which is what he really is. not a chainsmoking old woman like in z

You people should not speak so unkindly to someone just because they don't like what you do. Some of the replies I have seen are awful! My opinion on DBZ/GT ect? ._. I got bored. That is all. I just didn't find it entertaining at all, and I DO like some shounen animes.(Bleach, Kenshin ect., since I feel they offer something more. Oh, and Saint Seiya too.) I also did not grow up with it. (Sailor Moon for me.) so it doesn't have the same value to me that it may for you fans.
If you want an anime that actually has meaning, plot and depth, I would suggest Clannad.

yeah ocean dub vegeta around the beginning of the frieza saga was so epic. his voice was perfect I can still remember it as a kid. Sabat's voice doesn't do that era justice he sounds too old. But he is perfect for later.
