Hi, guys. So, today I decided to buy the new dbz game, dbz battle of z. You can read the 2 last paragraphs only if you already know the game or if you don't like long texts.

I was expecting this game to be the most awesome dbz game ever, or at least to get close to tenkaichi 3 in awesomeness. When the trailer was released, it reminded be of dbz legends, an old and very fun ps1 game.

Then, before buying it, I decided to read some reviews, and a lot of people were dissapointed with it. I thought that: "oh, the game is probably ok and people disliked it because it was supposed to be awesome". It even got 58 points only out of 100 on the reviews.

However, it was not an ok game. I decided to play it myself, for being a great dbz fan. I was more than dissapointed. The combos, as well as the reaction of the chars when fighting, were very poor. You can just keep pressing a button, then hold another to make a chain combo. The ki blasts/powers/skills or whatever you call it, are also really bad. We get like, a kamehameha for exemple, that's barely a kamehameha at all(compared to the previous games), 2 "special" moves, and the "ultimate" that you can use when you fill the energy bar until half of it is full.
And no in-game transformations either.

Now, what really dissapointed me is the options. You CANNOT play against the CPU in the battle mode, only in the story mode. There is NO local multiplayer at all. It's a fighting game, for god's sake. It's always fun to gather you friends to play fighting games and beat the crap out of them.
So, you wanted to play against the CPU with the team you made? Sorry, bro, you can only play online. Oh, you wanted to play with your friends? Well, tell them to buy the game? Oh, it's a different console, huh? Too bad.
Oh, your interent connection fell? Well, only story mode for you.

What the hell are they thinking? "Oh, screw what the fans want, let's make a crappy game and focus on the online so that people will have to buy more to play together". This is really stupid. The fans are going to be really dissapointed(again) and many will give up on buying the game, because it's NOT cheap. I've seen people chosing not to buy a game because they wanted to play with a friend. That's even worse when it's a f*cking fighting game, damn it, people has been playing fighting games together since arcade.
That's going to back fire at them, and they'll end up losing a lot of money after the first week, because many will give up on buying a crappy game that you can barely play with your friends.

I knew I made a good decision with holding off on that game. Honestly it just looks repetitive and lame from gameplay videos/playthroughs on youtube. The sequel will probably be 100x better though, DBZ games have a habit of drastically improving on sequels. Legacy of Goku, the Budokai series, the BT series and RB all drastically improved in the decond and 3rd installments (save for RB b/c theres only 2).

I'm aware of this. However, this time they really screwed up. It's like, they returned, they downgraded the mechanics of the game a lof, even compared to games like tenkaichi 1 the mechanics are worse.
And that's not the only thing: taking away the local multiplayer? Again? Game developers must stop this. They are NOT gonna make more money with this. There are a lot of games people wantd to play with their friends, and when that's not an option, they save the money for another game.
That's a stupid strategy, you don't have to be a genious to realize that. What are they thinking?

That's why i sold my PS3 and never bought any DBZ game after Raging blast 1.

Tenkaichi 3 was and will always be the best. U_U

Dodged a bullet there, thanks lol.
Is it just me or are the relatively old DBZ games better than the new generation? Budokai 3, Budokai Tenkaichi 2&3 (one was meh), The Legacy if Goku, Buu's Fury. These are the best DBZ games IMO and newer games should look at them while developing new ones. What we need is Tenkaichi HD Collection like Budokai!

Yeah, Tenkaichi 3 is the best Dragon Ball Z/GT game ever made. I remember playing that game nonstop after buying it off of some store. Man, good times. PS2 games are the BEST.
