Wow...took forever to get this chapter out. Well, since I'm getting back into the grove, I'll probably get chapters out every few weeks, instead of the two months it took to get this short one out. Sorry about the wait, and the length, but I hope you enjoy!

Fighting Fire with Fire

Holding his Halberd, he was in a perfect stalemate with Saskue. He twisted his wrist in such a way to make his Halberd rotate, that it forced Saskue to pull his arm back, or risk losing his sword.

Throwing his Halberd into the air, Diango pulled out a string of kunai, and through them. They sunk into the trees, the metal wire attacked, spider webbing the ground.

Diango wrapped himself in his cloak, and filled the air with chakra, blinding himself from Saskue’s Sharingan. As Saskue stepped forward, Diango cut the wires, setting off a series of small explosions. But Saskue was able to see the explosive order with this Sharingan, and was able to quickly avoid them all.

“Chidori!” he roared, rebounding off a tree, towards Diango, who ducked, and swung his fist at Saskue’s stomach. It sunk into Saskue’s chest, but Saskue thought quickly, and used Chidori Nagashi, stunning Diango.

“Phoenix Fire Ball Jutsu!” said Saskue, unleashing a barrage of fire, igniting some of the trees, adding a shallow, ominous glow to the already strange lighting of the forest. The electricity dispersing from his body, Diango charged at Saskue.

The blades of each of their weapons collided, reflecting the dancing fire in a disorienting, yet captivating, mysteriously beautifully way. The scrape of metal against metal, the strange lighting of the flames, they dodged each other’s attacks so seamlessly, it almost seemed to be choreographed.

Saskue was getting irritated. He was using his Sharingan to predict Diango’s moves, and counter them, but Diango seemed to have no problem doing the same; without Sharingan.

Diango ducked, dodging a slash of Saskue’s blade, and smacked Saskue upside the head with the flat of the blade on his Halberd. Saskue momentarily stumbled backwards, ear ringing.

“You…are getting irritating.” stated Saskue, activating his Curse Mark. Diango laughed, “Such drastic measures? Is this the power of the Great Uchiha Saskue? Fight for a bit, and abuse what little power you do have when you grow bored?”

“Chidori Senbon!” said Saskue, sending a volley of electric needles at Diango. “Ignition!” yelled Diango, thrusting his hand forward, and the air infront of him burst into flame, blocking Saskue’s technique. “I’m growing tired of you of your ‘fire’; let me show you the flames of the Uchiha’s!”

“Fire Style: Grand Fire Ball Justsu!” yelled Saskue, an enormous fire ball forming in the air. It ignited the surrounding tree’s that weren’t already charged, adding a massive wave of heat to the already burning fires.

The fire ball dispersed, and Diango stood there, wrapped in a veil of fire that had protected him.

“Such weak fire….Let me show you what MY flames can do!,” he started, forming hand signs, “Flare Burst!” the fire’s dance slowed, its destructive dance faltering as it swarmed around Diango. The Fire engulfed him, and with a sudden flash, a massive column of flame burst through the ground, engulfing a half mile of the forest in its marvelous flame. As the flame faded, the area it covered was scorched black; any life that was there before was gone now. Ash fell to the ground like snow, coating the burnt stumps, along with Saskue and Diango. An electrical field crackled around Saskue; he was burned in a few places, but whatever shield he had turned Chidori into, had obviously managed to block the majority of the attack.

Saskue brought his sword up, ready to continue the fight. “Why do you persist? You do realize…that Flare Burst is one of my weaker Fire attacks, and you just barely stopped it. I have no trifle with you…or your Master. I simply wish to progress.”

Saskue lowered his sword. “Hmph.” His Sharingan deactivated, and his Curse Mark as well. We walked past Diango, neither motioning, or further acknowledging the other.

The black ash stood out on Saskue’s white Kimono, and blended in with this black hair, as it seemed to be all but invisible on Diango, where it not for his flame red hair.

The fire of either man, would not be dwarfed by the other.

A warm breeze blew from the North. Keotsu snapped back into reality, having been deep in thought. “Diango…..” he muttered under his breath.

“Let’s set up camp here, our rendezvous point is only a day away now. Lets rest tonight and then start the actual mission tomorrow.” said Asuma. Keotsu nodded, and set up a fire.

The fire danced wildly, and has he felt Rena nestle up next to him, it wasn’t the fire that warmed him, but her.

Tomorrow, they would work on removing a large bandit outpost.

Then, Keotsu could learn what the last thing his father left for him was.
