Dawning Eclipse: Chapter 2

Sorry if the chapter's not very good; I've had a bit of writer's block, but finally finished chapter 2.

[size=+1]Keotsu walked towards the bench; he was supposed to meet Rena here today. He waited for about ten minutes, and Rena showed up at exactly eight PM; just liked they planed. It was the anniversary of the day Keotsu killed the Guru. He looked up from the bench he was sitting on, in casual clothes, compared to his normal shinobi gear. He saw Rena walking towards him.

?You ready?? he asked her, offering up his arm. ?You bet.? she said. The two of them started walking absorbing the sights of Konoha. There was a mix of destroyed buildings, and new structures; the village rebuilding itself from the battles that had ensued the year before.

As the two of them, walked, they saw lots of different things. Shikamaru and Temari where talking about the days the chunin exams should start on, Sakura was walking back to Tsunade?s office, a stack of books that Keotsu would thought to heavy to carry for anyone, Hinata was walking with the others in her squad, and Keotsu even passed Kakashi, coming out of a book store, and excited look on his face.

?So, how?ve you been? We?ve not had much time to talk?ANBU is a lot of work.? said Keotsu, trying to strike up the conversation. ?Good. I?ve missed you; I was glad we got assigned on that same mission together.? she replied. ?Me too.? said Keotsu, spotting a tea house. He motioned for her to wait, and returned from the shop a few moments later, two ice creams in hand. They started walking and as the sun started to set, they sat on a bench, watching the sun set; in front of them, a small head stone.

Keotsu pulled out the glass ocarina his father gave him, now smudged and cracked, and started to play it. The melody was quite solemn, but cheerful at the same time. Keotsu looked at his father?s tombstone? So little had changed in reality, but in his mind, he was not the same person.

After walking Rena home, and telling her goodnight, he headed home.

He opened the door to his home, and saw an a few envelopes on the ground. He picked them all up.

The first was an ANBU mission. He put it to the side; he would check it out later. The second one caught his attention though; it was an envelope colored with gold leaf, and sealed with the emblem of a burning rose. He opened it.

Keotsu,

I?ve been watching you. We?ve not seen each other in about a year. I want to talk. Meet me at the rock quarry.

Diango.

Keotsu?s breath stopped in the middle of his throat when he read who?s name it was. He quickly packed his things, and picked up the ANBU report, left a quick note to Rena, telling her that he?d be back soon. And then he left.

It was a few hours later, and a cloaked man stepped out in front of Keotsu. ?I didn?t think you?d come.? Diango said, pulling off his hood. ?Like I wouldn?t come.? said Keotsu.

The wind howled, whipping up Diango?s cloak, and Keotsu?s jacket.

?What did you want Diango?? asked Keotsu. ?I?m warning you, regardless of our past, I won?t hesitate to kill you. I have not alliance, I have no objective. I?ve simply trained. You killed my master, and since then, neither of us of have had a reason. Why do we fight Keotsu? Why? My master trained me to help him capture you, but I don?t have to any more. You fight for the Leaf, because its your home, but you don?t feel the same attachment. I won?t bother you?for now?but remember this?Is what you fight for, really what your after??.I?ll leave you to your duties.? Diango said, disappearing in a dark shroud.

He left Keotsu there. Wondering? Was he right?
