Because it's f-cking Neji. The taijutus purist. Even Gai with his 2 nature types is odd, let alone 3/5.

Already confirmed that most Jonin have more than one nature type, dunno why it's so surprising to you. Neji was a genius, makes sense he had 3. But just because you have them doesn't mean he needs to use them. He may have only knew c rank elemental jutsu at best. So chose to focus more on his gentle fist and Hyuuga fighting style. Neji's air palm is probably > than any elemental jutsu he had.

It's no different to minato, it's confirmed he has at least 1, but he doesn't use it. Why would he when he can wipe platoons out with FTG alone. We thought Hiruzen only knew 2, turns out he knows all 5. We thought it took considerable skill to learn an elements. But turns out any fodder can learn a low level rank elemental jutsu in an instant if they know the seals. Look at the fodder alliances, they all made earth walls like it was nothing.

Guy is a top class Jonin as well. He should know at least 2. He has a 3 in ninjutsu, he can use the summoning jutsu. He isn't useless at ninjutsu like Lee. However his fire an death techniques may just be rubbish and he's better off using taijutsu. Morning peacock >>>>> most fire style jutsu, so why would Guy rely on anything else.

Natures seem to have to do more with personality and characteristics than actual jutsu in many cases.

But then again if this were always the case, Rock Lee would probably have both Fire and Earth natures.

On the plus end of things, we most likely finally get to see Naruto's second nature type

That's what I believe too.

The likes of Kakashi and Hiruzen can use their elements to quite a skillfull degree. While someone like Ino, who does have earth style can only use a weak earth wall jutsu.

People assume that if you have an element, that you're a master at it and the fore should've used it. If I were a ninja and had 3 elements but they were all D rank jutsu, yet my kenjutsu skills were A rank, then I'd rely more on my swordsmanship.

Agreed. I think Earth would be a very suiting element as well, but clues seem to point to water.

Interestingly though, Naruto's "water" as a nature would go against Kishi's seeming symbolism of "water probably means you're kind of evil," but part of Naruto's personality matches with the more traditional ideas "water" characteristics.

It actually can make sense because Kakashi already said most jounins have at least 2 affinities. Although he did say most, not all, so i always assumed Gai was an exception but Kishi actually never said Gai couldn't use ninjutsu, only that he wasn't actually good in it. Because of it, even if he had the affinity, he couldn't apply that in battle Only Lee was in that case

It was said most jonin knew multiple nature types. Gai knows more than just taijutsu he just prefers that. Remember he also has his own personal summon which is a jutsu.

Yes, I'd like to know of Kakashi has fire too. Always seemed stupid that he doesn't.
