Dark Release, or Meiton, is an advanced nature KG which is achieved by combining Katon chakra with Raiton chakra. Dark Release is the use of marks on the user's hands to absorb and store chakra which can then be manipulated in different ways, such as redirecting it at the target or to erect a defensive chakra barrier. The chakra that is released utilizing Dark Release usually appears in the form of blue chakra, which is weak against earth and water, and strong against wind and fire. Dark Release can only absorb raw chakra-based attacks and elements and is unable to absorb solid materials, although it is still able to absorb chakra that is present in more solid elements. Dark Release is a rare element that is not seen often in the Ninja World. Meiton is a KG in which the user acts almost as an Organic Fuuinjutsu of sorts, absorbing and releasing physical and spiritual energies (chakra). Because it works, in a sense, like a Fuuinjutsu, the absorbed chakra doesn't actually enter the users Chakra Circulatory System (like what happens with the Rinnegan's absorption abilities) but its kept in the KG mark, as if stored in a separate space within the body. One can say the squares (upper and lower) are much like portals to the sealing space but the sealing space has no connection with the user's chakra. Because of this, the user has little control over the form he can release said chakra. As he releases it, it manifests in a raw energy form rather than a specific elemental one.

Dark Release is strong towards energy based elements because energy absorption is the core ability of dark release. Not only that but Energy is easier to absorb and manipulate than matter. Another thing, Dark is able to absorb things like; Storm, Dust, Scorch and even raw Sage Jutsu. But when release your opponents technique, if your opponent blocks using any of the following; The four obvious ones; Fire, Wind and Raw chakra along side these more uncommon ones; Sand, Rain, Steam or Boil you will have the upper hand, since dark just eats right though energy based chakra. While Dark isn't strong against Water and Earth since they are both matter elements and just doesn't work like that. Earth suffers double strength towards the absorbing ability of Dark Release (meaning that only an S-Rank Dark release can absorb a B-Rank Earth technique)And again when release your opponents technique. If your opponent blocks using any of the following; The two obvious ones Earth and Water as well as; Solid Ice, Steel, Wood or Lava. They will overpower your dark as they are matter based.

Good job. The double weaknesses to Earth was removed a while back, so that doesn't exist anymore. Well, looks like I needn't add however here's some useful information.

The method I've used in order to make a better understanding of Dark will make things less confusing for you, at least I hope so. Dark Release is divided into two categories, that of "Absorption" based Dark and "Release" based dark. Now the former deals in absorbing chakra (mostly energy based elements, however higher ranked Dark techniques can even absorb Water or Earth at some point). The dark marks located in your palm need to be short range away from an attack for them to absorb it most of the time. Whereas the Released version of Dark is releasing the absorbed chakra in the form of raw energy, which is alike to light blue flames. This form of Dark does not have the ability to absorb things. Normally, a hit from this raw energy grants death to almost anyone. A B-rank dark explosion is enough to deal life-threatening damage. Another branch of the Released version is that beside the blue flames, it can also come in blast and shockwave version; things which will be portrayed to you during the training.

Alright, firstl Dark Release technique

(Meiton: Kyūketsukō) - Dark Release: Inhaling Maw
Rank: B
Type: Offensive, Defensive
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user uses their dark release to forcibly extract the physical and spiritual energy (chakra) of another ninja and absorb it through the upper square of the mark on his left hand, which can then be used to perform Dark Release: Judgment.
Note: Can absorb up to A-Rank Wind, Fire and Lightning techniques, S-Rank raw chakra or C-Rank Water, all within reason. Has no effect on Earth techniques.

Without this, you cannot begin to perform other "Release" Dark techniques. Notable to say is that Inhaling Maw does not follow Dark's Strengths and Weaknesses based on the official guidelines. So it's more of a stand alone absorbing dark technique, being able to absorb only what is written in the notes. There are other techniques which can also absorb, one of which is a more refined version of Inhaling Maw, allowing you to absorb even solids at some point.

Now then, I'd like to start with the a technique which does not require earlier absorption.

(Meiton No Jutsu) - Dark Release Technique

Inhaling Maw is certainly standalone, since it has it's own set of governing rules regarding its' interaction with different chakra nature. However, it is still really easy to understand. It's our bread and butter absorption technique you use to utilize Release based dark techniques in return. By my understanding, when we absorb both physical and spiritual energy of a technique, the incoming technique loses it's 'force' as well, hence why we are able to withstand absorbing strong wind techniques and others. It also doesn't require any handseals and works both for offensive and defensive purposes. Also, I don't think we can absorb techniques we can't see.

The Dark Release technique is the C-Rank equivalent to most of the D-Rank elemental techniques. The things to note, however, is that this technique doesn't produce anything tangible. It's not solid mass but rather utilization of dark chakra( like a wind jutsu )to create blasts, shields, etc. Unlike most other dark techniques, this doesn't require us to have inhaled other techniques beforehand which means we can use this from the get go. It's certainly helpful at almost all stages of fight at any rank too. It's advantages and disadvantages against other elements are standard, based on official guidelines.

Neat job! The next set of techniques are basic ones where you release waves of dark chakra towards the opponent. There isn't much difference to each other, it's just that you release a single dark wave with one, and several with the other. Both techniques' ranges are pretty convenient.

They require earlier absorption however. Tell me your thoughts on them (advantages/disadvantages) and how would you apply these in a battle, or possibly in a combination with other techniques you know? (May be other elements)

It is a fairly simple technique, requires no handseals and falls under the "Release" category of Dark jutsus. It releases several waves of dark chakra through the lower square mark. It's useful where one needs to defend against Wind or Fire techniques despite it being offensive in nature. The technique doesn't have a long activation time as well so it's rather usable when defending against the said elements.While that is said, it still can be used as a swift attack especially at short range to cause damage to the opponent. However, the waves aren't exactly strong on their own, despite being denser and more powerful than raw chakra. So wasting absorbed chakra on this isn't worth for what we're getting in return. It's also limited to Mid-range.

Similar to the previous technique by its' mechanism and simplicity, this technique releases a single wide-ranged wave of black chakra. It's use spreads to long range, meaning distance isn't a disadvantage. The advantages are similar to the previous jutsu, only this time it can be spread farther and wider. Wide techniques like Hidden Mists generally are weak to being blown away or have their moisture evaporated by strong fire jutsu. However, since the 'absorption' jutsus are strong against both fire and wind it would be difficult to do so.

The reason I don't seem to find combination of these techniques with other elements is the fact that both these techniques are very solitary. Inorder to fully utilize these techniques, using other element / jutsu to immobilize the enemy seems like the right thing to do. They won't certainly kill the enemy but rather lightly hurt them.

First is Tai based, able to absorb chakra upon contact. Then the next one is unleashing a shockwave made of destructive Dark chakra.

Alright, the first technique requires physical contact. Since we're not doing Taijutsu it can only mean that 1. It's really powerful and 2. It's equally difficult to pull off. The chakra extracted from the opponent is stored the same way any incoming jutsu would be stored, somewhere along a different space; ready to be utilized by a "release" type technique.

The second technique is something I personally really like. I don't mind taking fight up close and personal. I'm fairly adept with using sharingan, genjutsu and taijutsu so I would certainly have a chance to use this technique multiple times. Yes, the range extends upto long but in short range it's almost an instant KO. The technique itself is a shockwave which I assume is of light blue color. It extends outwards from both hands and not only one so you are slightly handicapped on that front.

The first technique, while good on paper, is short range. My way of utilizing would be fairly versatile. I could use earth techniques to push my enemy or myself closer while utilizing genjutsu to stop any potential counters. I also have sharingan along with dark so I could simply utilize an immobilizing genjutsu, backed up by difficult to deal techniques so I can successfully touch the opponent. If I do get to fight close range early on, I could see myself using this technique in conjunction with regular taijutsu

The user will spread his arms to the sides and point his palms outwards in opposing directions, activating his absorption squares in both his hand markings. As he does, a radial vortex-like effect is creating towards each hand. By doing this, the user is able to defend from attacks (following the elemental weaknesses and strengths of the KG) that are thrown at him from all directions, as the vortexes will direct them to the markings. However, if the user fails to keep both arms and markings perfectly opposed to each other, the vortexes will become unstable and fail.

> This is basically an unidirectional A-rank version of Inhaling Maw that requires the user to have kept arms on a certain position. Due to it being A-Rank, it is stronger and can absorb techniques coming from all directions but then it also limits the user's mobility and forces them to assume a static stance.

> Fairly basic technique that allows absorbed techniques to be reflected back in the form of light blue flames at an amplified strength. This is basically the technique Hiruko used vs Naruto in the battle the most. However, the flames can only be expelled through the left hand. Apparently.

Since its A-Rank its much more stronger but a lot less spammable.

The user, when facing an attack, will clap his hands together and separate them right after. As he separates his hands, a small dark sphere will be between them. The user maintains his hands close to sustain the small sphere while it siphons any enemy technique or enemy chakra within range towards itself. The sphere is a "void" made by activating both absorbing markings in the users hand at the same time and opposing them to each other, which creates this effect. This technique is essentially a more advanced and powerful version of Dark Release: Inhaling Maw and enables the user to absorb higher ranked techniques. However, when used, the user needs to wait one turn to use Dark Release absorption related techniques.

To do this, the user releases chakra from the markings in both his hands.

It can absorb up to F rank of elements weak to it, yes. Those not stated are neutral (which means up to S rank), and those weak to are I believe, A rank. Second question, yes, you have to have a turn break in between basically.
