Dark release is a KG wherein the user, with the help of their diamond markings located on the left hand palm, (Quick question here, are the markings only exclusive to the left palm, or can one have diamond marks on both palms? I've heard only the left hand however, having the markings on the left hand only feels limiting, to me) absorb ninjutsu techniques and release them in the form of 'raw' chakra. Techniques are absorbed through the upper marking and released in raw form from the bottom marking. Furthermore, a dark release user must take into consideration of the limits associated with the KG. These limits include the absorption of Earth and Water related techniques, due to the fact that they are solid and liquid based forms of matter, respectively, as oppose to gas and plasma based matter, which is easier to absorb. Dark release users can therefore find themselves at a great advantage if attacked with the latter matter based techniques, and at a disadvantage if attacked by the former matter based techniques. So between the absorption ability and the many ways that one can go about shaping/reforming the absorbed matter, I'd say meiton is a very versatile KG that can be applied in many battle situations.
1. I've been interested in learning Dark release since I began RPing in December, however, since it took me a while to get training in Fire release I have only recently been able to learn it. The ability, I feel goes well with my favorite character, Ulquiorra and fits his fighting personality perfectly. The idea behind watching as your opponent eagerly and confidently forms and releases a great ball of fire towards you with the intent to incinerate you, only to have it negated by raising your left arm up all nonchalantly is borderline hilarious, and again, something that I'd feel the character that I love to RP as doing. I have several custom ideas in the works already, all of which are pretty unique; Most dark customs I see getting submitted , revolve too much around the offensive aspect instead of the many supplementary purposes that can be made.

3. Within the Narutoverse the only one seen utilizing the meiton KG was Hiruko.
I have several questions that I hope you can answer, with as much detail as you can please. :snick:
(These will help me adjust some ideas that I have in terms of custom techniques)
I'll come up with a situation to ask this question: Say your opponent used that Earth technique that creates a golem out of earth, could one, in theory if they were able get into the golem's close range and press up against it, sort of siphon out the doton chakra within it, rendering the golem into nothing but natural earth? So basically, in theory a way to get around the fact that one cannot absorb the 'solid' portion of the Earth would be to press up against the earth being manipulated and absorb the 'plasma' (chakra) portion, which would negate the earth technique completely. The lightning technique, nagashi for example uses this same premise, by negating the doton chakra within the earth being manipulated the earth technique is stopped. I hope that makes sense. ._.

Okay so, amazing reply as always. You can use any hand you want, most use left; but you don't have to go with most. There is one or two new canon techniques that need the usage of both hands, but it makes a sort of void of dark in the middle of them both, allowing you to absorb higher rank techniques.
Good. I'll explain in further detail:
0. Meiton is a KG in which the user acts almost as an Organic Fuuinjutsu of sorts, absorbing and releasing physical and spiritual energies (chakra). Because it works, in a sense, like a Fuuinjutsu, the absorbed chakra doesn't actually enter the users Chakra Circulatory System (like what happens with the Rinnegan's absorption abilities) but its kept in the KG mark, as if stored in a separate space within the body. One can say the squares (upper and lower) are much like portals to the sealing space but the sealing space has no connection with the user's chakra. Because of this, the user has little control over the form he can release said chakra. As he releases it, it manifests in a raw energy form rather than a specific elemental one.

3. Yes, Hiruko is the one who uses it, he used it via the Chimera Technique, to change his chakra type to Dark, Steel, Swift and Storm.
Okay, I shall explain the strength and weaknesses of our KG.
Dark Release is strong towards energy based elements because energy absorption is the core ability of dark release. Not only that but Energy is easier to absorb and manipulate than matter. Another thing, Dark is able to absorb things like; Storm, Dust, Scorch and even raw Sage Jutsu.
But when release your opponents technique, if your opponent blocks using any of the following; The four obvious ones; Fire, Lighting, Wind and Raw chakra along side these more uncommon ones; Sand, Rain, Steam or Boil you will have the upper hand, since dark just eats right though energy based chakra.
While Dark isn't strong against Water and Earth since they are both matter elements and, lets be real you can't absorb something that is matter, just doesn't work like that. Earth suffers double strength towards the absorbing ability of Dark Release (meaning that only an S-Rank Dark release can absorb a B-Rank Earth technique)
And again when release your opponents technique. If your opponent blocks using any of the following; The two obvious ones Earth and Water as well as; Solid Ice, Steel, Wood or Lava. They will overpower your dark as they are matter based.
The reason I like dark release, it gives you the chance to absorb your opponent attack and redirect it stronger.

It sounds possible, but it would be best to ask Scorps or Dante, I personally have never thought of doing that; nor thought it would work. I may be a shishou but, I am honestly at a stand still, I don't have an answer for you, about that sorry. :| I think the answer will be no, cause they at least one of the basic five releases to be unable to be absorbed, I hope that made sense. >_>

No there isn't, as far as I'm aware; I have a custom where you use a fire based technique [C-rank or w/e] then you absorb it, thus making it stronger.

As the waves make contact with the clone's mid section it gives severe burns while also knocking the clone to the ground. The clone then disperses.*
What kind of effect would a technique like this cause if it made contact with the target? Like in my description, is it correct in saying that it would burn the target and knock them over due to the force of the waves hitting it's chest area?

Description: The user will release a black, widespread wave made of dark chakra at their opponent just a wave of their hand.
This is similar to the last technique; I want you to gather up your dark chakra and I want you to use shape manipulation on your dark chakra, once you do that I want you to form outwards in front of you as a larger wave. That you will send towards my clone, who is at long range of you. This is a longer wave and goes further then the latter.
One/three advantages:
How you would counter it: By using an earth technique to move out of its path or face the technique head on.
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): *As I turn towards the clone I gather a larger amount of dark chakra into my left hand. Description: By activating the absorption mark in one of his hands and touching an enemy, the user is able to absorb up to 40 chakra points on contact. This chakra can then be used to fuel release-type Dark Release techniques.
Okay so this is one of the new canon techniques that was released a couple weeks back, so I'm not to familiar with it.
So; pretty much get into touching distance of my clone, place your hand on him [hand that has the two diamond marks on it] doing that should allow you to absorb up to 40 points of chakra while remaining touching him. This chakra absorbed can be used as a medium towards other dark release techniques like Judgement.
One/three advantages:
How you would counter it: pretty much staying away from the persons short range ensures that they will not be able to execute this jutsu.
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): *I turn towards the clone in front of me and place my left hand on it's right shoulder. Now comes the most useful of all dark release techniques; Okay, I am going to create and release an A-rank fire technique I want you to put out your right hand with the two diamonds on your hand, using your dark chakra I want you to start to extract and absorb the physical and spiritual energy (chakra) of my jutsu into the upper diamond on your right hand. (Don't release the technique yet)

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): *As we stand at about 7 meters away from each other and you begin to release your fireball I simply raise my right hand upwards towards the incoming fireball. As the fireball begins to close in on me the upper diamond marking on my hand begins to absorb the jutsu fairly quickly. After absorbing the technique entirely I lower my hand, storing the absorbed chakra for a future use.*
- 1. An easy way to counter most ninjutsu.
- 2. Used as a stepping stone technique to attack with judgement afterwards.
- 3. Low chakra cost and a relatively quick jutsu to use.
- 1. Does no damage.
- 2. No earth can be absorbed period.
