I'm starting to believe that maybe he lied to Itachi...maybe the Uchihas were going to figure out his plan on trying to take over Konoha...But instead Danzo turned it back on the Uchiha's and lied to Itachi. So Itachi wiped them all out leaving Danzo's plan still alive. And Now Sasuke, Madara, and Danzo are the last Uchiha's.
