Well for me, there's a big risk when you have met someone over the internet. You're lucky if it turned okay but maybe not.
Even if both doesnt see each other, you can fall to someone over the internet when the time comes both are comfortable with each other. I know a friend who fall on someone she met in the internet. They've talk almost everyday for a year. Until the time comes she can open personal matters on him and he gives advices and completely provides her the care and attention she wanted when she need it the most. (I think the guy is really nice). She let herself fall on that guy though she knew the guy is already committed and now its hard for her to forget the guy since talking to him become a habit of her.
There's nothing wrong if someone met the right person just by chatting but its better getting to know him/her personally.
