He's Shanks' rival in swordsmanship, not their full strength. I feel like the story has made that obvious so far.
Amen.
Someone gets it.

Shanks has only fought using a sword. So Mihawk basically rivals Shanks true strength (going by your logic. So yes... you're correct). I believe he would use his true strength in order to save Coby/Stop Sakazuki (strongest Marine) or to survive a hostile encounter with Whitebeard. And he used a sword in both cases. You can't say Shanks hasn't shown his strongest fighting style (which is obviously Swordsmanship based upon my latter examples), if he used any weaker fighting style he would lose to Mihawk right away. Mihawks title means that he is regarded to be stronger than Shanks on a global scale. He's Shanks' rival in swordsmanship, not their full strength. I feel like the story has made that obvious so far.
Ermahgurd! "What a shame"...My fav isn't in top 2
It's based upon hype, logic and non Sakazuki fanboying.

*Looks at Bajrams avatar*I doubt Sakazuki would have fans, i think he is mostly hated he doesnt have any fanboy as far as im concerned, if the list is based on hype okay then how in the world does benn beckman is above marco and marco is on the same level of lucky roo,ur fanboyism is way beyond my understanding's.
What's arm wrestling got to do with this? If you're talking about Sword vs Sword and nothing else it's still not making a difference. You clearly didn't understand my point did you? Let me go through it with you:Skylar Knight said:If you challenge someone in arm wrestling, you only use one hand.
This indicates that he likes his sword and is clearly a Swordsman due to his persistent usage and dedication of said combat style, he has never been shown to use any other weapon. Meaning that Swordsmanship is most certainly how he fights. Just like Mihawk. Since Mihawk holds the title as worlds strongest swordsman, since Shanks appears to be nothing but a swordsman this hints towards Mihawks superiority in strength.Me said:Shanks has only fought using a sword.
Basically stop making things up and crossing your fingers and praying that Shanks can use something other than a sword. Regardless of if he can, a sword is his strongest way of fighting. So using anything weaker will obviously make him a walkover for Mihawk.Me said:So Mihawk basically rivals Shanks true strength (going by your logic. So yes... you're correct).
We can clearly see based upon these examples that Shanks depends on swordsmanship more than anything else during combat, just like Zoro,Mihawk,Vista,Momonga... They're all swordsmen and nothing else. Stop hoping Shanks can do stuff other than Swordsmanship to such a high caliber.Me said:I believe he would use his true strength in order to save Coby/Stop Sakazuki (strongest Marine) or to survive a hostile encounter with Whitebeard.
Basically by this point you had been proven wrong...Me said:And he used a sword in both cases. You can't say Shanks hasn't shown his strongest fighting style (which is obviously Swordsmanship based upon my latter examples),
This logic is obvious and easy to grasp. If Luffy picked up a sword and fought with it he would be weakened, because it is a weaker fighting style. Shanks is a swordsman. Simple. If he does anything else he is weaker. Mihawk holds the title of strongest so he is hyped to be stronger than Shanks.Me said:if he used any weaker fighting style he would lose to Mihawk right away. Just wait till the manga debunks his theory of "Mihawk > Shanks", arguing with him will get you no where.@Rinnemaki - You're the one who don't see my point. Who is stronger between a naked man with a sword, and an armored knight with both a sword and a shield? If the naked man challenges this knight to a duel, then the latter has to throw away everything except the sword for it to be a fair fight. He doesn't attack enemies with his armor, nor does he use his shield as a weapon, but that doesn't mean they're not there when he's fighting.

We have barely seen shanks fight, yet alone go all out. To assume his swordsmanship is his only strength is ridiculous. While mihawk is only known for his swordsmanship, shanks is recognized for his incredible haki, for which we havent even seen his full Strength in yet. Therefore shanks>mihawk
Ps. Mihawk has one of the strongest swords in "Yoru" while shanks has some random sabre. Although the sword doesn't implicate strength I'm sure it factors in somewhere.
