First: Which country?[...]Not to mention that breakfast and supper for 90% of the time consisted of bread, butter, and either jam or the cheapest type of pork sausages.
Random eastern-european EU-member country, but I doubt you have been here, I especially doubt that you are familiar with the hospitals here, and in general unless you've spent months in hospital -whether in your country or here-, don't judge.First: Which country?
Second: What the fuq do you expect? Something like this?

Seriously. Bread, butter and jam/cheese/cold cuts are perfectly fine. German hospital-food is absolutely edible, not restaurant-quality, but that isn't needed anyway. If these people think that food is "not enough", then they should go back to Syria or wherever they come from and find something to eat over there. Easy as that.
They should be greatful that they get something at all, for free. Dafuq.
Yet this is a thread on the current migration crisis in which many countries are involved, including mine.I ignored the lunch-part, because my post belongs to Germany and the things you mentioned do not happen here, at least in most hospitals. If that happens, then it is just a rare, bad exception. And I've been in hospitals a lot. Not as a patient, but as a visitor and I always saw the menus. They were fine. So there is absolutely no reason to complain, even if they have to eat it for months. Like I said, they should be grateful that they get anything. For free. Because the refugees around my place don't even work.
They can't just come here, drain our commune like a mosquito and then also expect first class food. No one says they have to stay if they don't like this country and how they are treated. They are free to leave.
When someone flees from war, then he/she should not complain about anything. It's not that they get dog-food or have to sleep on newspapers under the open sky. They even can take the bus for free and do still complain.
What other countries do, does not matter, because it has nothing to do with my original post.
I've been to hospital quite a few times...or at least more times than someone of my age should have...and one time, after a few weeks I also stopped eating the food given in the hospital. First I just refused the soup- it was literally the same unrecognizable mess every single day, for months. Then the main dish was inedible sometimes too. My body simply refused it, I couldn't swallow it anymore. Not to mention that breakfast and supper for 90% of the time consisted of bread, butter, and either jam or the cheapest type of pork sausages.
I was not the only one to complain about it either- a fellow for example once told the doctors that the food is crap: he was told in reply that it's enough for him not to die of hunger, so he should deal with it. He was not lucky enough though to have relatives and friends to take home made food for him.
Now of course it depends on the hospital and the person as well. Hospitals in the capital are somewhat better financed, and I enjoyed the food there quite much. In my home city, however, there were cocroaches in some rooms *shrug*
And if someone is poor and used to eating crap, the person probably won't have a problem with hospital food either (f.e the beggars I met there), but if someone is used to eating quality dishes, said person's stomach will be less likely to digest such food.
It's funny you're asking if I have a degree in health sciences...like, do you? With the same effort, you shouldn't even make threads on religion unless you have a degree in philosophy/theology, or you shouldn't make threads on immigration unless you have majored in politics/sociology/law. *shrug*I ate military food for a whole year. In forest training excerises it sucked but we still ate it. Like did all the men in Finland who go through conscript service. It's just a matter of adapting. Rest is excuses for weak and spoiled people. Especially then they are excuses when we are talking about serving food for refugees. They have even less reason to turn away the food.
How does quality dish differ from said poor quality food in terms of digestiveness? Do you have a degree in health science? All that matters is that you get energy, vitamins and proteins out of it. Your stomach will adapt. Unless you have allergies I don't see your argument justifying that kind of behaviour.
Also refugees here in Finland got the same food we give in schools and some of them still complained:
lol let me rephrase: all I meant was that how do you explain the not being able to digest it part? I'd like to hear the fysiological explanation for that argument. It's funny you're asking if I have a degree in health sciences...like, do you? With the same effort, you shouldn't even make threads on religion unless you have a degree in philosophy/theology, or you shouldn't make threads on immigration unless you have majored in politics/sociology/law. *shrug*
And no, I don't have a degree in health sciences, apparently, that's why I was not acting all smart about it, claiming that I'm posting undisputable facts- I posted my experience, and I didn't expect it to be taken for more than what it was meant to be. You can dismiss it if you wish, but then why are you making a thread asking for opinions? If my opinion/experience differs from yours, I'm supposed to show a health sciences degree to qualify for your standards to participate in the discussion or what?
Other than that, I agree that it's a matter of adapting: after all, people in harsh circumstances could adapt to eating raw animal meat, their own excrement, their own comrades etc. *shrug*
And yes, the point is that cheap food does not really contain the necessary nutrients.
Anyway, basically you are also suggesting that me or others in the hospital refusing the food given there is unjustifyable- so what, you're gonna deport me too from my own country?
I do not know about Germany, but here in Denmark asylum seekers are not allowed to work... and it takes a lot of time to process requests for asylum. So you have a huge amount of people, most coming from war-torn nations and all from extremely poor nations. They do not know the language, they may not know a single soul in the country and the culture is in some respects alien to them.I ignored the lunch-part, because my post belongs to Germany and the things you mentioned do not happen here, at least in most hospitals. Just how ignorant can you get?1. Good that some of them leave. Why did they come all the way over to Europe, if they could've gone to Iraq in the first place?
.
Finland returns home 20 000 out of 32000 asylum seekers. Most of them are Iraqis. How ignorant are you if you don't see something wrong with that picture?Just how ignorant can you get?
1) There are more than 200000 syrian refugees in Iraq. About 2 million in Turkey, 1 million in Lebanon, and more than half a million in Jordan. That's about 4 million refugees abroad, of which only a fraction comes to Europe. And let's not forget the ~7 million internally displaced persons within Syria.

2) Are you aware that ISIS is also present in Iraq? And in general, what protection do you think the Iraqi government- the government of a failed state- can provide? Also, Lebanon is on the verge of civil war, and there are terrorist attacks in Turkey almost every week basically.
3) If they come to Europe, it's mostly because 4 yrs have passed since the start of the Syrian civil war. Yes, at first they escaped to countries around. Where they were placed in tents, in the middle of a desert. Why can't they just stay there. Gee I wonder. Spend 4 yrs with them there, and come back to tell us.
Nato shouldn't have fueled these wars in the first place the outcome has made it horrible for everyone on both sides.Finland returns home 20 000 out of 32000 asylum seekers. Most of them are Iraqis. How ignorant are you if you don't see something wrong with that picture?
1/5 of the refugees coming to Europe are Syrian so why are you focusing on them? We're talking about Iraqis here and economic migrants. Many parts of Iraq have been declared as safe. Also do you realise these people pass many peaceful countries on their way to Finland? Again do you see what's wrong with that picture?
