Deep within the forest,
Covered by shadows of the cold;
I thought I caught a flicker,
Of a torch you used to hold.
A whispering light broke free that night,
In search of an eye to see.
I never told a soul of this;
But it spoke of you and me.
My hand came to life as I clutched my knife,
And carved into a tree;
Words that spelled out loud and clear:
"With you I want to be."
Branches that broke beneath my feet,
With every step back home,
Awoke the ghostly thoughts of doubt;
Which through the forest roam.
As I woke in the following mornings,
I searched beyond the years.
To find the tree that marked the spot;
And answered all my fears.
The forest died and morning cried,
New light lay on the ground.
I gazed upon a figure;
Near the path that I had found.
To my eyes you looked in wonder,
And mine to yours in glee;
"Your message reached my loving heart."
You said; "How's it gonna be?"
