I mean, just think about it. This is a universe with so many important historical events and dates, and all they can mention is how many years or months passed since certain events. It’s pathetic because then you don’t even know around what times in particular a lot of different events of the story took place in history, or how far they are from each other. Example being the time Jiraiya took Minato as a student and then when he did the same for the 3 rain orphans.
I believe it would have done better to strengthen the consistency as well as narrative of the show, even if only a little, rather than having all these clustered events without any organization. We all know what a mess the show turned out to be, especially with historical events and explanations (ala multiple different versions of the Sage of Six Paths story).
Even DB of all things has a timeline and it needs one a lot less than a verse like Naruto’s. He could have invented whatever dating system for the show.

a truthfull fact noone realizes yet :

if u remove character of madara from teh series then teh whole naroto timeline and plots will be messed up..
Forget him, we don’t even know when Hashirama died or just what happened for Tobirama to take his place. That’s how bad Kishi Is with this stuff, he wrote Hashirama to be so absurdly powerful that he couldn’t even come up with a sensible reason for how he died In the first place.

And that turned out to be quite the flaw, didn’t it? He just tacked on so many events without proper and concrete chronological separation.
In the sense of delivering something interesting and entertainment to the readers lack of time line is not really a big deal. Young readers don't care much about it. But in the sense of writing a coherent story lack of time line is a serious flaw.

Well of course, and I could only be referring to the latter as a result. Yeah there’s lots of verses that don’t need time lines either because they don’t have events necessitating such or because they can still be followed with ease regardless. Personally though I believe Naruto is the kind of universe that requires a timeline to keep the story coherent and perhaps prevent it from becoming whatever it did in the War Arc. Due to the many events in it.

Re-read the thread, I won’t spoon-feed you. It certainly had nothing to do with removing any characters.

If you mean if it should have been in chronological order then no, it wouldn't have been as interesting, if you mean there should be some kind of timeline outdated, nobody knows what was planned or not but I don't think it would have made much difference.

Hashirama died during the first war and Tobirama during the second war or maybe during the conclusion of the first war.
Really not a satisfactory explanation, so parroting that gets you nowhere. And who even killed him anyway? How much time did he get to spend with his granddaughter Tsunade before he died? Who besides Madara could have even stood a chance against him? Kakuzu didn’t either.
Also Tobirama died in the first war too.
Speaking of being killed by Hidden Cloud Shinobi, just when did Kinkaku and Ginkaku’s attack on him and the 2nd Raikage take place anyway?

Of course not in chronological order. Just have dates and years to go by, then when it’s time to pull out the pre-series events, put them in a certain point in time that would be that number of years before the main series. Numerous other series (like Gundam) do this all the time.
It would make placing events one after the other not a problem, but Kishimoto clearly didn’t consider that and certain mysteries exist that can’t be excused because they shouldn’t be mysteries in the first place.
