Just wondering. A friend of mine said Marvel Universe could beat DC Universe. Me not knowing hardly anything about either Universe, cant really say.

Yes...., Marvel has a lot of overpowered freaks - hero and villain alike ( some of them are even Gods ) - DC has bunch of talking monkeys, people who relay more on their style and swagger than supernatural abilites, and Superman,Captain Marvel, Green Lantern and a few others who can't hope to stand against the Marvel Horde alone.

My opinion:
This is a never ending debate, like the color red vs blue, Scorpion vs Sub-Zero, Darth Vader vs Luke Skywalker, etc....
We all have our personal favorites, but respect both sides and even like both sides. That's me anyways. I love and prefer DC, but I love Marvel too. I just think instead of bashing, we should respect them. We can say have fun, but in the end, still have respect, you know?
In a fight, who knows? I pick DC because I love DC. Marvel has powerful people, so it's very hard to call, but in the end my love for DC takes over. I'll admit this though: I can see DC winning, I can also see Marvel winning.

Speaking on this thread's topic - I'd say...well, I don't read the comics. Just got general internet and movie knowledge and I'd say Marvel.
It's close but even if I love DC characters (especially Batman), Marvel got loads of multiple characters. 3 ultra-strong Marvel char. will need to triple-team against Superman though.
Basically, the way I see it is that DC characters got either low-level Superheroes/Supervillains and beyond-imagination strong superheroes/villains. While Marvel Superheroes got some 5-10 ultra-epic characters and most of the rest are also very strong.
So, after getting rid of most low-level characters of DC Comics, they'll overcome the ultra-strong DC characters by over-numbering them.
It's my opinion; though I think it'll be extremely close. One interesting fact that people could add is how much characters in their in the Marvel and DC Universes?

It all depends on the circumstance - do they know about each other (the abilities, the weaknesses), what powers the heros actually have (look at all the different powers superman has had, in the beginning he was "faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive" and able to "leap buildings in a single bound." He had various other powers through the bronze age, silver age, gold age, crisis, post crisis, etc. Superman at his most powerful form was strong enough to move planets.)
Also, there are several parallels between the heros, the most obviouse being between Batman (Bruce Wayne) and Ironman (Tony Stark). There is also the question of whether side kicks would be included because that play a huge role in itself (the inclusion of Robin, Superboy and Supergirl alone help out the DC Universe tremendously)
In addition, there is also the question regarding who the actual hero is (based on the identity of Robin, the DC Universe could have both Robin and Nightwing).
The bottom line is that there are too many variables to decide...
As you can tell by my references being mainly related to DC, I am a DC fan and would like them to win.
I do not claim to be an expert on comic book heroes, if I have said anything incorrect, please let me know (other than preferences between the 2)
