Yes he did. But none of the Genin are on Kakashi's level. Not even Sasuke. If he can avoid and escape 3T Kakashi then he could win against Genin 2T Sasuke is my point. But in an actual fight with Kakashi. I agree I don't see Kabuto (then) beating him.

But we are talking about the Genin and not the adults. I agree Lee and Gaara would give him a good challenge, but from what we learned from Kabuto's history is he is very good at adapting and exploitation. Not to mention he had stat cards on everyone in the Chunin Exams so he came prepared in that respect.

In that case I agree, I still don't see him doing much to gaara if he unleashes shukake like he did on naruto. Unless he himself can summon manda or another snake. But otherwise valid points

Gaara full transformation would've given him a rumble but that's just Shukaku.

Kabuto is on par with Kakashi as often stated by Kishi when the power levels were directly addressed by the writer. Kabuto murders everybody there in the same way PTS Kakashi would've.

The real question is, were his other teammates disguising their own power also?

Kakashi was pissing himself at the thought of threatening a Sannin just the arc before, Part 1's power levels were not to be underestimated.

Could say the same about Kabuto when sasuke went to orochimaru and he told Kabuto to shut up, kabuto was passing himself. Don't really mean anything though as if it was kabuto in the same situation he would be pissing himself as well.
