Itachi is stronger. He is smarter, faster and his powers are incredible. He knows Gaara and I guess that he would outsmart him quite easily. Amaterasu is inevitable for Gaara in fact and his sand won't protect him, too. Against his Genjutsus, Gaara doesn't have a plausible counter too, apart from being able to fight with closen eyes, what is absurd. Don't want to start with Susanoo and its ultimately weapons.

Itachi has the better cards here and the scenarios some people are considering are just absurd and would never happen in a fight.

Absurd? You thinking Itachi could do all that while he's in the desert and Gaara is 50 ft in the air is what's absurd.

when gaara is giving the speech the shinobi on the ground are away from gaara from a good distance wile gaara is more high up in the air. im pretty sure the shinobi's on the ground are making eye contact with him

Again Tsokymo needs to be a direct eye contactfrom close range. Normal genjustu wont be as effective as you set it out to be........

Gaara Sand Grab itachi as soon as he seems him. Sand grave is the Jutsus that well suck itachi into the ground and plant him there..... Way beneath that ground...........

The Manga says Itachi is "essentially invincible"
The Manga says Tsukuyomi happens in an instant and cannot be canceled even by a partner.
The Manga says Yata Mirror can repel any attack.

Disprove those statements. Prove I made any of that up. It is all in the Manga. Don't hate the "fanboy" hate the manga.

Gaara fodderizes him in a dessert,anyone can win in a neutral area,12 yr old gaara turned a forest into a dessert in minutes,current gaara can do it in seconds. Gaara has a counter for tsukyiomi,susanoo and amaterasu as well as knowledge on those techs,itachi dosent know abt sand tsunami,sand hail or any of gaara's techniques,gaara can also fly which basically counters any other technique itachi has,totsuka dosent come close to 5 madara susanoo swords,how long do u think itachi will last against 5 wood clones of madara whi all have complete susanoos,rinnegan and moukton,gaara held them off long enough to save mei.in a dessert gaara wins low diff. So I guess that Itachi can only cast illusion by keeping eye contact. Itachi can cast illusions with his whole body, whereby it is enough to simply look at him. And for you to know, Itachi even controlled a Shinobi at a distance where the sensors couldn't sense him.

And who cares about whether Gaara can fly and fights in the desert? A single glance is enough to hit Gaara directly with Amaterasu, the distance plays no matter, as well as he can fly. Amaterasu doesn't know distance.

Gaara knows not to make eye contact with an Uchiha.

Gaara has sand clones which he can use to trap Itachi.

Itachi's attack can't reach Gaara at a certain range, yet Gaara's can reach his.

First of all Madara and hashirama battle didn't start that close as you can see they are running at each other, second of all..... There is no battle that start 5 meters away...... You reach 5 meter after you start fighting.
Which by the way if you haven't realized that gaara uses his sand to attack and he just stays at the same place unless he has to move

1. That has nothing to do with fighting Garaa.
2. It was stated by Zetsu and Tobi that Itachi would have beaten Sasuke.
3. Itachi wasn't trying to kill or even beat Sasuke.
4. Itachi did beat Sasuke but died of disease.
