Could Gaara beat Itachi?

tysukuyomi as soon as itachi looks at gaara, gaara doesnt know itachi's techs he wont know to cover his eyes instantly as soon as he seens itachi.

why do you keep denying this fact?

gaara's large scale attacks would be useless against yata mirror.
yata mirror has the ability to change its form and characteristics to counter any attack making it useless, so a sand attack coming behind itachi would be useless because yata mirror can block it. itachi basically has a 360 degree defense.

What kind of rubbish "this is Itachi we're talking about". So? he's not exempt from Gaara's abilities.

I've seen alot of people say Gaara could beat Itachi but i'm not really sure myself. In a normal battlefield, I would say Itachi just about wins it. Even then Gaara has a big chance to win. In the desert I would say Gaara wins with low - mid diff, because he can fly etc and he has almost limitless sand. I don't think Itachi could keep up stamina wise. No eye contact if Gaara is high in the sky etc.

What do you guys think?

Well for one thing tsukuyomi can only work close range. When i say eye contact i mean look someone in the eyes from 10 feet in the air.

if gaara is caught in genjutsu, gaara sand is still fighting and protecting him, which well give gaara enough time to realize that he is caught in genjutsu and break free. (Tsokymo excluded)

bull to escape a genjutsu another person would have to give chakra to gaara for him to escape it since when can gaara's sand give him chakra, not to mention gaara has shown no ability iin breaking out of genjutsu's.

Actually one has to disrupt his chakra flow, It doesn't really require another person for that to happen as long as YOU have the ability to disrupt the chakra flow......... This has already been stated int he manga........

Let's just break every argument you have that Gaara could win.

I don't know if you are being stupid on purpose. You said to me where in the OP did it say it was in the desert. And the OP said it was in the desert, did it not?

Then you claimed Itachi, being Itachi, would somehow just not get hit, because you know, he's Itachi. What a lousy argument.

Itachi is stronger. He is smarter, faster and his powers are incredible. He knows Gaara and I guess that he would outsmart him quite easily. Amaterasu is inevitable for Gaara in fact and his sand won't protect him, too. Against his Genjutsus, Gaara doesn't have a plausible counter too, apart from being able to fight with closen eyes, what is absurd. Don't want to start with Susanoo and its ultimately weapons.

Itachi has the better cards here and the scenarios some people are considering are just absurd and would never happen in a fight.
