Could Gaara beat Itachi?

It's in the fucking desert. Itachi's Susanoo has an underneath also. So in the desert, where the floor is sand, Susanoo is practically useless.

Gaara has a good shot, given that Susanoo can be binded by sand. Itachi has nothing close to Perfect Susanoo to tip the scales either. That said Itachi has an okay chance of beating Gaara too.

However seeing as legless Susanoo can't do very well against Gaara, I'm skeptical about readily saying Itachi has a definite shot. Especially when the Susanoo clones which almost killed Gaara were full bodied ones. Only Edo Itachi can really make clones with Susanoo, but not the effective one (half Susanoo); it is possible living Itachi might, depending on if you think Karasu Bunshins can use clones*.

*Can the crows handle the pain from Susanoo?

gaara's large scale attacks would be useless against yata mirror.
yata mirror has the ability to change its form and characteristics to counter any attack making it useless, so a sand attack coming behind itachi would be useless because yata mirror can block it. itachi basically has a 360 degree defense.

Yes he can. Gaara can fly in his sand avoiding eye contact from genjutsu or tskoyomi amaterasu cant go that far susano Gaara can have his sand go though susano's blind spot and crush Itachi's arm and pull him out of susano then while his out of susano and out in the open crush him.
