Roshi had been traveling the borderlands in Iwagakure and decided to sit down for a spell. He gazed onward and saw the landscape of the land. The valley below was green and fertile as far as the eye could see. There were some crop rows below in the valley near some houses. He remembered this place real well from his childhood. In the Autumn there were grandiose festivals, celebrating the gift of life and bountiful harvests. The villagers would all display there pride and joy crop that had overgrown into huge proportions. Roshi smiled at the thought of children passing by the displays and commenting on how best to madden the farmers. He gave a deep sigh as his eyes wandered higher. The mountains too were covered in green and spots of grey rocks. As his eyes went even higher he looked in awe at the grey clouds covering the tops of these grand mountains that held the valley below. It was a bit chilly since he was up this high. He sat on a vast plain field overlooking the village below and the expansive valley. The grass was kind of scarce with some patches of dirt. It was on this plain where he played as a child and dreamt of becoming a fine shinobi.

Roshi was not the type of person to easily give up. He had grown up with many prejudices and trials of his own. He had persevered them but only because he forced himself to stay positive. He knew that in order to achieve his dreams he would have to work even harder and hopefully one day impress his old man. They barely talked since he was always on journeys but if there was one thing Roshi learned was that a mind determined is a mind that does. In other words, his actions were going to speak louder than his words ever could. Roshi took a piece of grass and placed it on his teeth as he began to chew it and lay down. You see, in the village below was staying a renowned shinobi by the name of Mystogan. From what he gathered he was a quiet man with incredible power that in time his name came to be feared. Roshi looked up and snickered and spoke.

"Pfft...what makes him so powerful? I haven't even met the guy and I am already obsessing over him. But I need to know how to be a better shinobi. If I am lucky maybe he can help me get better with using fire. If I want to achieve my dreams of becoming a Kage I will have to kick it up a notch. But I am so lazy. I hope I can keep up."

Roshi stands up and looks towards a nearby tree and spoke.

"I told him to meet me here. I applied to get taught by him but I wonder if he will answer back. For some reason I want to press his buttons and find out what ticks him off. But I need to proceed with caution lest I incur his wrath. Well...anyways I hope he got my message."

Looking at the sky and already next to the tree, Roshi places his right foot against the tree and leans on the tree a bit. He closes his eyes and switches his senses to his hearing. He crosses his arms and awaits Mystogan-sensei.

There was nothing grand about this entrance. Out of the thin mist, Mystogan slowly emerged. Walking towards the man, he stopped a few feet away and planted his staff in the ground. He looked towards the man, as if expecting something, possibly someone else. Closing his eyes, the masked man simply sighed, inaudible to the man across from him, and then he opened his eyes again. Looking the man over a second time Mystogan finally decided on a plan of action. There were only a few words spoken, but they were all he needed to say in that moment.
Most advanced technique. Hit me.
The masked man's tone was haughty, as if he already looked down upon this man he hadn't even met, but had merely seen. It was almost as if Mystogan was irritated about something, but about what was an unanswerable question. Whatever the cased, Mystogan moved his staff back and forth, working the butt further into the ground as he waited. After a few seconds, he glanced back up at the man.
Well? he said. I'm waiting for you to attack me with all your strength, bearing in mind that this is Fire training. You are the guy I was supposed to train, right? I thought I'd double-check because you seem sort of... Old to be undergoing training so basic. Or maybe you simply don't understand what you're supposed to do... First, you mold your chakra, remember what that is, old-timer?
It was clear that Mystogan was taunting the man, but for what reason it was unclear. Holding his staff with his right hand and almost leaning forwards as he spoke to the man he was to train, Mystogan glared at him, ensuring that he knew Mystogan was superior, that he was the one in control and in charge, and almost rubbing it in the man's face. This arrogant, self-righteous, overall rude attitude continued as Mystogan stared at the man in silence, waiting for a response, pressuring him to move before he came back with the verbal taunts.

Not sure if that was roleplay or you annoyed at my character for sleeping. e.e

Little did the man know that the person before him had just been an illusion the whole time or that is how much Roshi was able to surmise. Before the man had arrived, Roshi had made a simple earth clone to take the appearance of himself leaning against the tree. He then had placed himself in a magic cloak to hide his physical appearance and by hiding his presence he was able to remain in stealth. Roshi had not been sure if the man was talking to exactly himself or the clone as he was hiding in a blind spot of the tree. After hearing the man whine, Roshi knew he had to make some kind of entrance otherwise he would end up regretting it. He quietly reached into his pouch and grabbed four shuriken, two in each hand. As his back was facing the tree and hiding his view from Mystogan, Roshi grabbed the cloak with his left hand, put his left foot out and pivoted on it to move at a 90° angle so that he was now in Mystogan's view. As soon as he and the man are locked in eye contact, Roshi throws the shuriken at the man and inhales a bit to gather fire chakra that had been molded inside him. As his chest quickly puffs up, Roshi exhales and breathes out a little bit of fire that he had kneaded as it reached his mouth and aimed at the shuriken to make them light up and catch on fire as they headed towards you. Roshi yelled out when he finished.

"I am not that old!"

He calms down and crosses his arms and he momentarily closes his eyes and nods his head. This is the first time someone had called him old. He became a little ticked off someone thought he wasn't good enough. Sure he was older and wiser but definitely not slower. In fact Roshi believed his senses were sharper and his determination was more stronger. He had been a rebellious youth in his day but as time went on he had gained a lot of experience on what to do in battle and what to not definitely do. He sighed a bit because he came to the consensus that maybe this was just a ruse to get his blood boiling. He opened his eyes and he spoke in a reticent yet apologetic tone.

"I'm sorry young one. It seems I still hold on to my youthful spark. I appreciate you coming here though I thought I would have to meet with someone far older and wiser. So unless my eyes deceive me, you must have rose the ranks quite quickly. I mean look at you. (Holds out his arm to point at your arms) You are scrawny as hell and you dress weird. You youngsters think you are the heroes of the world but you have more to live and experience."

Feeling a little guilty for venting on the poor kid, Roshi pauses and closes his eyes as he apologizes again.

"Sorry again. I am a bit temperamental. This is why I love fire because it shares the same passion as me. Looking at it gives me strength and determination. It's not like stone that is always stagnant. Fire is active and consuming. It can warm and destroy you all the same. I hold a special place for fire in my heart. Reminds me of this time I met a redhead and...."

Illusions, such as the Clone Technique, have no effect. <.<

As the flaming shuriken came towards Mystogan, he yawned. Lifting a single kunai from his weapons pouch, Mystogan focused his Raiton chakra through it and then let go of the weapon to scratch the back of his head. Almost magically, the kunai floated in the air by itself, and from the metal two bolts of lightning sprung to create two identical kunai comprised of lightning (for a total of three kunai). Mystogan then extended his hand which was scratching his head over the floating true kunai, his three outer fingers extended with his index pressed against the pad of his thumb. Flicking his finger forwards, Mystogan caused the three kunai to start spinning and fly towards the shuriken. The two lightning kunai intercepted two flaming shuriken and extinguished the flame, sending them to the ground, while the real, lightning-imbued kunai hit one shuriken, which altered it's trajectory to throw it into a second shuriken, ending his opponent's "assault" with minimal effort.

Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Range: Short – Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: 30
Description: The user will channel their lightning chakra into their sword to increase its cutting capabilities, and then levitate it in front of them. They will then multiply the sword creating two extra physical copies which are then all manipulated to spin rapidly and are controlled to fly towards and cut through the opponent/s.

Your temper is good. Shinobi believe that if they can suppress their emotions, they will be strong. This cannot be further from true; you must learn to control your emotions, not merely suppress them. Using your anger, your burning emotions, to draw out your Katon's strength; this is a good strategy. But do not allow your anger to take over your reason; stay in control of your actions and your plans. This is the most effective way to fight, with a controlled conscious and a spectrum of emotions at your fingertips to urge you into battle. A Shinobi who loses themselves to their emotions will die, but a Shinobi who leaves their emotions behind won't fair much better. Now, please, if that is all you can do, we have quite a ways to go...
Flicking open a lighter, Mystogan stared into its flame for a few seconds. The ever-changing position of the plasmatic butane, the raw heat and light given off as the ionized form of the substance receded to a gas, the emotional turmoil it represented... As Mystogan stared, he never took his eyes off of the flame as he spoke.
So you know how to make fire... This is good. Your first task is to expel a fireball. It doesn't have to be big; don't use any more chakra than what you already did. Just build up your chakra, and release it into the air, where it will become flame. It's a simple task, but can often be quite effective. Try and hit me with it; I promise I won't die before your training is over.
Concentrated on the flame, Mystogan waited. Would the man try to be clever and use tactics and combinations? Or would he simply go straight-forward and use the technique on its own. He couldn't tell just by staring at the flame in his lighter, but he anticipated great things from this man. He simply had to draw them out slowly.

He couldn't tell just by staring at the flame in his lighter, but he anticipated great things from this man. He simply had to draw them out slowly.
As the man spoke about truths Roshi had learned in his journey, he crossed his arms and closed his eyes giving he appearance of thinking deeply. He remembered what fire had meant to him. It held a special place in his heart that nothing could compare too. He took out a lighter and flicked it open. A small fire lit inside the metal container of the lighter. He looked intently at it and his face sunk a little as if past regrets came to mind.

You see Roshi had been afraid of fire since he was 6. The day the Akatsuki ransacked his village and set the houses on fire. There was so much pain and sorrow as the villagers tried to escape but were caught and slaughtered before his eyes. It is not somthing a child should see but it happened and there was nothing he could do. He was helpless and weak. His family, friends, and other innocent people were killed without reason or trial. Though he was lucky to survive, Roshi used to wish that he had never been born. He speaks to Mystogan with a deep, insightful tone.

"Pain is all this world will ever know. No matter where one hides, it will always follow suit. I used to run away from my destiny, young one. How cowardly you must think I am but what was I to do? Should I have stayed and fight or should I have continued running? As you grow older the amount of regrets increase and you go each day thinking what you could have done. This very fire, this small flame...so innocent and warm...it took the many lives of people I loved. But I couldn't save them because I wasn't strong enough and all though I foolishly wandered in search of power I never found it. Little did I know that the power was inside me all along. Since that fateful day I have promised myself to never give up no matter if my life is on the line. I can't run from my responsibilities any longer. I can't waste my time thinking what might have been. You are lucky Mystogan. You have your whole life ahead of you and a world of infinite possibilities. Cherish what you have and don't ever give up otherwise you will end up and old sour codger like me. (grins)."

Now feeling energized, Roshi decides its time to unrust his old bones and show his worth. He throws the lighter slightly into the air as he performs the Snake → Ram → Monkey → Tiger handsigns. The handsigns help concentrate and mold the chakra inside his lungs into a flammable gas which is all apparent when he inhales to puff up his chest. As the lighter comes down in front of him, he exhales and lets out the flammable gas shoot forward in a rather large fireball that covers both their view of each other. As soon as the fireball is formed and already in its way to you, I gather my chakra yet again and channel it to my hands and slam them on the ground. I send a wave of my chakra into the earth with such force that it sends ripples throughout the ground causing it to tremor and shake violently hoping that as the fireball reaches you, you also fall down. Once the fireball and tremor are done with I channel again more chakra into the earth and manipulate it to go towards your direction all the while rising up in spikes to impale your bony ass. My concentration is keenly focused on the strength of the spikes that they look intimidating as they near you.

Roshi, while on the ground waiting for you next move, looks intently on and keeps his wits about him. He did not expect him to fall prey to such weak techniques but Roshi wanted to learn about the man's fighting style and pinpoint his weakness. His ears payed attention to all his surroundings and waited patiently. He didn't want to waste any chakra at this point since he knew that would be a waste of time. After all, as a keen and observant strategist, Roshi knew that this was only the beginning.

"I hope you haven't given up to such a weak counter now son."

Staring into the small flame in his lighter, Mystogan saw from the corner of his eye a large fireball erupt. Opening portals around his body as the flame blocked his student's view of him, Mystogan became a human representation of Keigoku and then as the ground shook he allowed himself to fall, slipping through a portal and landing behind his student. Holding out his lighter as Mystogan landed on his feet, his body reverting to normal. Then he held out his lighter and singed the back of the man's hair.
Do you want to learn, or don't you?
(Dark Convergence) - Kuro Shuusoku
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 50 (+10 per turn active)
Damage Points: N/A (+15 to opponent for every taijutsu blow landed)
Description: The user will focus and open 4 human sized portals, one on each side of his body and a metre away from him, allowing massive amounts of Keigoku to pass through the portals and flow onto him. This large influx of chakra reacts with the symbol that every clansman has branded on them and causes it to go haywire, so to speak. Instead of projecting and guiding Keigoku, it causes the Keigoku to travel inwards, filling the user's tenketsu with keigoku, warping it's usage and causing the chakra to flow inwards, preventing Ninjutsu or genjutsu usage as long as it is active as the chakra cannot be molded correctly. As the Keigoku flows inwards, it corrupts the user at the very core, literally turning him into a solid manifestation of Keigoku, causing building damage to the user over a series of turns. Taijutsu attacks are augmented through the usage of this, adding properties of being exposed to Keigoku with each strike that lands.
Unfortunately, there are more drawbacks than benefits; the longer the user has this jutsu active, the more at risk he is of fatally harming himself from the reverted flow of chakra. If active for longer than two turns, upon deactivation the user can only use taijutsu attacks for two turns as it takes time for the user's tenketsu to start it's correct flow. The user also can not use any Keigoku techniques of S-rank and higher while this is active. While this is active, the user is vulnerable to sealing jutsus that seal away elements and/or jutsus.
The Nekura requires special training and must be Black Knight or above to utilize this jutsu. To add to this, this jutsu can only be used twice, lasting at a maximum of 3 three turns each turn with a build up period of at least 2 turns in between usage.

Roshi felt a rather eerie voice and a burning sensation on his head. He smelled fire and despite having his enemy behind him, he felt the fire would be more important to take care of in this situation. Roshi clasped his hands together and spoke, "Suiton!". He channeled his water chakra throughout his body and put out the fire. Feeling all wet now, he did the same thing but instead spoke, "Katon!" and warmed his body slightly to dry out the wet clothes. He then, trying not to sound intimidated, spoke in a calm manner as he closed his eyes.

"I see your teachers have taught you well young one. I must apologize. This is the first time in a long time I have been bested. That trick you pulled...reminds me of another young man I met on my journey. Fearsome fella he was. He called himself a "Nekura". What vile creatures you are using foul chakra like that. I hope you are being careful or you will poke someone's eye with that.

As per your question...Fine. Teach me what it is you know. But I will promise you this. I will kill you one day. Pray tell when for that day may be tomorrow. Well, anyways proceed young one. I haven't got much time as you see we age by the day. (looks at his hands) Well, at least I am."

He turns around and looks at Mystogan.

"You know young one, I feel as if your father somewhere is proud of you. Having such a strong and wise lad. You will make a fine Kage one day. I can tell from what we have fought, that though you are a man of pride, you have a heart. Reminds me of my son. (coughs to hide himself from crying)

Well let us proceed then. Chop, chop."

<.< *is just realizing that you used Mist Blazing Dance without being taught.* You may use all techniques PS has taught you, and I'll continue from there.

... Let's not talk about my family, shall we? You're here to learn.
And speaking of which, I would like you to begin molding your katon chakra in your lungs. This next technique is unique from other katon jutsu in that you condense your katon chakra into the moisture within your lungs, condensing each molecule of moisture into flammable fluid, which hangs like mist. Then, you are to exhale this flammable mist. After you perform this technique, I need to know if you understand the technique fully; I'll need you to explain all of the creative uses you can come up with, and then move into when this technique may not be the best choice for use, or how it might be defended against.

After you perform this technique, I need to know if you understand the technique fully; I'll need you to explain all of the creative uses you can come up with, and then move into when this technique may not be the best choice for use, or how it might be defended against.
Just realized that to be honest. >_>

My apologies. U_U

Roshi closes his eyes and concentrates. He channels his chakra from throughout his body and concentrates it in his lungs. He can feel it build up inside him and powering up. He then opens his eyes and makes the Snake → Ram → Monkey handsigns and then holds the Tiger handsign in place as he begins to inhale. His chest puffs up as it begins to accumulate with air/oxygen. As it fills up, it begins to stick out like a bird's chest during mating season. The air inside his lungs, whilst being manipulated with his chakra, combines the air and moisture to turn into a flammable gas. When he feels he can no longer hold it in, he exhales and releases the flammable gas towards a tree. The gas is suspended in the air like a magical cloak. From an angle it looks like the tree becomes blurred and distorted. He then cuts off the technique as he closes his mouth.

"I have an idea how it works based on seeing it used. It is like a blowtorch. It expels flammable gas and when combined with a spark or flame it creates a strong fire that can be maintained so long as there is a continued source for it to keep going. Much like how wind can make a fire technique stronger though that itself has its own restrictions.

Other than the straightforward approach, you could use a shadow clone, have it perform a fireball or fire stream attack, then with you or another clone follow up with this technique and create a more concentrated attack. If you add another clone things can get more creative by using Ash Cloud Technique + Mist Blaze Dance Technique + A Fireball/Fire Stream Technique = ultimate 3 way attack. But that all requires strategy and using it at the right time. Toad Oil Bullet could work but then they have their own techniques anyways. I wonder if you could use lightning as a spark for the flammable gas? Would be a nice trick to use it and make a two techniques lead to another good technique. Oh...I wonder how this combo would work out. Hiding in Mist Technique > Hidden Mist Eye Sight Deprivation Technique + Mist Blaze Dance Technique + jump in the air and perform a Fireball Technique.

So far as when not to be used...probably when a wind and/or fire attack is coming towards you. Wind will more than likely disperse the gas and fire will ignite it and worse if it is coming towards you. Common sense is the key word here but other than that....never have it as your last move. Since this is a short range use you have to be careful when to use it especially if your enemy isn't crippled (i.e. blind, paralysed, genjutsu, etc.) and is quite proficient in taijutsu.

Other than that, I am at a loss for words."

That was good... And yes, lightning will ignite the spark, so be wary of that, as well as keep it in mind to use to your advantage. Your suggested combinations seem interesting, at the least, and I hope you follow through and at least attempt them.
( Katon: Kasumi Enbu no Jutsu ) - Fire Release: Mist Blaze Dance Technique
Rank: D
Type: Offense/Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: After performing the necessary hand seals Snake → Ram → Monkey → Tiger, the user is able to create and blow a flammable gas from their lungs. Once it comes in contact with fire or sparks, the gas ignites into a large fireball.
Your next technique is the final D-rank katon jutsu; following the same process, perform and describe, I'll explain what you are to do, and then you do your part.
Now, this technique has multiple different ways of being used. The first is a very simply and straight-forward method of performing Katon; inhale, build katon chakra, and exhale flames. These flames may either be formed into a small ball which flies forwards, or a continuous stream whose direction can be changed by moving your body.
The alternate usage of this technique revolves around focusing your katon chakra into your limbs, and then moving them in a punch, kick, swip, etc. motion, your katon chakra igniting the air around your limb while keeping it from burning so as to create a powerful, burning taijutsu. When fire is produced from your limbs, it may also be used to create streams which flow forwards and follow your limbs' movement.

So, why don't you attempt all four ways I described to use it, the fireball, igniting your limbs, and creating streams by either exhaling or through your limbs, and then come back to me with creative uses and disadvantages of the technique as a whole, and if you can come up with specifics for each variant, that'd be great.

After listening to the young one speak, I knew that I had to show some maturity and respect. After all he was growing up and learning. It would be a waste to have such talent be halted by a grumpy old man such as I. It was time to start getting a little more serious.

"Alright...let's do this."

I then make a handsign and channel all my chakra into another being that is a direct copy of me.

"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"

(Kage Bunshin no Jutsu) - Shadow Clone Technique
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The Kage Bunshin distributes the ninja's chakra evenly among the clones and creates a real copy with form and substance. The clone itself can also utilize any jutsu the original ninja knows. When the clone finally disperses, any new knowledge it has gained is passed back to the original ninja and any additional clones. Upon impact, the clone can be dispersed.

Having a second me was enough to be creative and show off all four examples in a short amount of time. I bend my knees a bit to channel more chakra and manifest it throughout my arms like they were on fire. However since it is my chakra manifesting it, it won't harm me. I then dash towards the dummy as my arms maintain the flames so that they don't go out. As soon as I am inches from the dummies face, I then do an upward punch that sends the dummy upwards. Using the time it takes for you to reach the peak of your jump, me and my clone go for a combination attack.

I jump up with a burst of chakra to catch up to you and pass you a bit so I can look down on you. As I am in the air my clone catches up under me, we both inhale and channel our chakra. The when we exhale we both manipulate the end result to get two different variations. My clone makes a stream and I make a fireball as large as I can make it. The resulting collaboration clashes together in a large explosion of fire. Then as the dummy falls to the ground and I land on the ground, my clone charges up his fire chakra as he dashes towards the falling dummy. As he grabs the dummy he leaps into the air with him and releases his fire chakra throughout his body, causing more intense burning.

"Bear Hug!"

As the dummy disperses as well as my clone, I give a hearty laugh and wait to see the look on the young man's face. Or rather, his lack of an expression.

That appeared good... And though you didn't describe the specifics for these techniques, I can let it go this one time.
( Katon no Jutsu ) - Fire Release Technique
Rank: D
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 10
Damage points: 20
Description: The user will release a small but powerful flame of fire at their opponent from either their limbs (through movement) or exhaling it. It can produce fire balls or fire streams or simply aid in taijutsu.
Now we shall do two techniques; the first is a steady stream of fire with a powerful heat distributed throughout the entire flame, rather than compressed to a single point. The purpose of this is to cause heat exhaustion in people who come near the flame, rather than burn them with pin-point accuracy. And it's as simple as that; a hot stream of flame with no handseals.
The second technique uses the Snake, Ram, Monkey, Boar, Horse, and Tiger handseals. After forming the handseals, you are to inhale and form a ring with your thumb and index finger. Then, exhale katon chakra-infused air through the ring, where it will travel as a stream, igniting through the ring into a large sphere of flame. Now, there are two variants with this jutsu. The first is that you continue to exhale, creating a massive fireball that exists in short-range of you so long as you channel chakra through it. The second is a sphere of flame which travels up to mid-range away from you, being created like the first variant, yet is smaller.

So try both these techniques, and then come back to me with the advantages, disadvantages, tactics, and anything else you want.

*walks in* Holy kami, these wallies. I expected nothing less from Sharingdork-sensei .___. But I always love how he characterizes and immerses you in the training session ^^

Anyway, let's continue.

Aigis (no need to link bio, you already know her Lol) walked onto the open field, seeing her student talking to her sensei. She was asked to take over this student's training upon request.

There was a light but noticeable breeze, which blew from her east to the west. It whipped against her clothes, causing an elegant flutter in the clothing, and her hair flowed naturally; as much as short, blond hair could. Her headband almost fell off, and she fussed over herself a little, adjusting it and keeping it in place. She needed to look somewhat presentable, at least...

Upon arriving directly next to sensei and her student, sensei gave a wordless nod and disappeared. Taking a deep breath, Aigis steeled herself. She had always admired her student, a fellow Konoha shinobi, from afar. He was a role model within the village and considered a kind and helpful soul. She knew that this would be a very wholesome training session.

Standing across from her student, facing him, Aigis spoke in a clear, consice, and even clipped voice. She tried to sound gentle and sensible, though.

"Greetings, student. I am Aigis. It is good to be training a fellow Konoha shinobi."

"Before we continue, I'd like you to perform the previous two techniques sensei required of you. Then, give your reasonings and the rest of the SOP."

She observed her student intently with a strong gaze.

Roshi crossed his arms as he heard the young one speak and a beauty she was to behold. He remembered about a young kunoichi he once helped. A faint smile could be seen on his face no matter how hard he tried to show it. He didn't want to be a bad sport so he complied with her request nicely.

"Hello Aigis-chan. My name is Youton no Roshi (Roshi of the Lava Release). Thanks for continuing my training. I'll be sure to thank your master as well later."

Roshi wasn't much for talking so he quickly got to work. As he makes handsign, he channels his chakra throughout his body and focuses it next to him and creates a shadow clone of himself. Once fully formed, Roshi speaks into its ear and signals it to go to mid-range of himself. Once there the two give each other a stern look as if they knew exactly what to do.

"Okay then we are ready to show you the two techniques we learned. Please pay attention carefully."

Roshi starts off by making a string of 4 handseals as he channels his chakra. He focuses a sufficient amount in his lungs, inhales, then blows out a flammable gas towards the clone. As it nears the clone, he notices the distortion that the gas causes to the air. He channels his chakra and after inhaling, he blows out a small fire stream at the gas causing a big explosive fire that seemed to cause them both to back up from the heat blast. They look at each other after the flames subsides and laugh together in an old man, hearty laugh.

"Ahahaha. Now that was funny."

"So how do you think I did, senpai? There isn't much to say about these two techniques since they are straightforward in my own opinion. The latter technique has various applications but other than that, nothing. I used these two combos in the way that I did just to show that both can work together. The first one is a stream technique which requires you to maintain it and won't go off unless you ignite it. Similar to the A-Rank Ash Cloud Technique. The second one, I think, is much better applied with close combat techniques such as taijutsu or Kenjutsu. I like it very much and may incorporate it later into my style.

Also, didn't quite get you on what you meant by "SOP". Care to ellaborate that for me please? Us old men have the foggiest memory."

The flames went up in a huge blaze between Aigis and her student and his clone. She couldn't help but be impressed. A helpful and kind soul, yet powerful and completely serious when he needed to be. The concussive force combined with the heat of the combination made her step back, and she wiped her brow and fixed her hair, which were slightly messed up.

"Fantastic, Roshi-san. Using a clone to simultaneously perform both techniques sped up your combination; which is critical in a battle. You have a clear grasp on the basics and fundamentals. Therefore, I expect great things from you."

"Were I to use this technique, I believe the gas stays in the battlefield as long as you do not ignite it or if the opponent doesn't deal with it. You could set a trap for your opponent; if they forget that a Gas is still present in the battlefield, they might accidentally use a Fire Jutsu and set themselves on fire. These types of 'delayed release' jutsus can be essential in controlling a battle's flow."

"SOP stands for 'Standard Operating Procedures'. I merely used it as an acronym to describe what most students do in their training sessions; listing advantages, disadvantages, creative uses, counters... you know the rest. I will ask those of you as well, but I don't expect simple one liners. For this session; focus on what is important in each technique; don't simply say one line thinking to fill up space. I dislike that type of teaching as the student will most often just try and nitpick at certain things."

"Let's proceed."

Aigis molded Fire chakra in her chest, shooting a small, short flame from her mouth towards Roshi's clone. The flames surrounded the clone, not necessarily making direct contact. Roshi could notice his clone was beginning to sweat profusely. Suddenly, the clone collapsed on one knee, panting heavily, until he poofed away.

"The first C-rank technique relies more on the extreme heat of the flames to disorient your opponent, leaving them quite vulnerable to a follow-up attack. However, you can also simply use this technique to shoot a flame at them."

Forming a single hand seal, Aigis created a Shadow Clone of herself next to her.

"Do as I did. I don't believe I need to explain more, do I?"

Her clone stood ready for Roshi's attack, and Aigis observed them both.

(Regarding SOP, I only want you to write what you think is important; quality over quantity, in this case :) )

As Roshi observed his clone submitted through such torture from his teacher, he crossed his arms, closed his eyes, and gave a long, disappointed sigh. He had spent energy making a clone to help him with training and to watch him suddenly poof away...well it was quite vexing. He spoke as respectful as he could while not opening his eyes to the young senpai.

"I would appreciate it if you didn't destroy my clones, young one. You leave me with no other way to enjoy these lessons."

He uncrossed his arms, opened his eyes, and made a confrontation seal as he channeled a rather large amount of his chakra throughout his body then quickly releasing it in the form of two summoned clones this time, one on either end of him. He then looked at Aigis with a wide grin that either suggested he was happy or about to do something evil. He then got into a ready stance and spoke in a commanding tone to his clones.

"Get into formation men! Time to counter fire with fire!"

Having only one chance to pull of his attack, Roshi had to be quick and cunning. The three proceeded to run towards Aigis' clone in a V formation with Roshi at the end and the clones towards the front.

Clone 1_____Clone 2

______Roshi______

Clone 1 moves ahead a little faster but at an angle to maintain the formation. He then proceeds to throw several kunai with exploding tags attached to them towards Aigis' clone to catch her attention. Clone 2 then attempts to catch up on time and throws a couple of smoke bombs at her, setting them off and causing a large smoke cloud further obscuring her view. With Roshi close behind, he then channels his chakra towards his lungs as he inhales, while in short range of where he assumed she would be, he then exhales and blows a small, short stream of intense flames and heat towards the clone. As the stream proceeds its course he is careful to focus on the exothermic aspect of the flames rather than the power of the flames itself. The resulting flames also set off the exploding tags from the kunai even if they were dodged/defended against causing an explosion, devouring everything within the smoke cloud causing anything to be in it to just die. Roshi is careful not to run into the cloud itself or else he would become his own lesson. After finishing, he then crosses his arms again and waits for Aigis as his clones then return back behind Roshi again. He assumes that since this is a lesson, she won't try to retaliate yet.

"I hope I didn't disappoint, Aigis-chan."

The three-pronged attack by Roshi was well-executed. Aigis closed her eyes and nodded once.

"I wanted an analysis of the technique. Advantages, Disadvantages, Creative Uses, Counters, and your insights/opinions. You don't have to drone on; I simply want what you think is important."

She opened her eyes and looked at Roshi straight in the eyes. Her serious eyes pierced his own with her light blue colored gaze. Without speaking a word, she hoped Roshi would understand that this kind of training wasn't simply to show off one's skills. Understanding how a technique worked was the most paramount priority of any shinobi. A single mistake could cost the battle. She would know; having experienced it herself many times.

"Once you have given me your analysis, we will move on. I expect one after each and every technique you perform."

Aigis showed Roshi the next jutsu written on the C-Rank Fire scroll, AFTER he had given his analysis.

(Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu ) - Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique
Rank: C
Type: Offense
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: After performing the necessary hand seals Snake → Ram → Monkey → Boar → Horse → Tiger, a ninja inhales air, and utilizing a large amount of fire chakra, spews a large fireball from their mouth after blowing through a ring made by the thumb and index finger of the user, incinerating everything in range. The fireball ignites externally. The fire ball can present itself in 2 forms: it can either be created by a stream of fire and sustained as a gigantic ball of flames in front of the user spanning up to short range or be released as a slightly smaller ball of fire which will travel towards the enemy up to mid range.

"This jutsu is the trademark technique of the Uchiha Clan. Perform both variants on those targets over there."

She curtly pointed to a couple of targets, which looked like training dummies that were stuff, and held up by wooden poles.

Roshi became startled to see his new senpai angry at him. It had been a while since he had worked with a woman, let alone such a brash-natured one. He quickly recollected himself and then proceeded to casually reply to her request which he had foolishly forgot.

"Well...the fire stream is a nice feint attack due to the heat given off from the constant fire stream. I believe you concentrate more on the thermal heat rather than the power of it. Like most jutsu, if you focus on one aspect, with enough experience you could bring about a different kind of battle tactic. The disadvantage other than the cliche rank of the technique is that it is a fire stream meaning you have to maintain it until you feel you have fulfilled its purpose. However since you are constantly maintaining it, then you can also maintain its power without having it to diminish as it flows on. A good tactic to use this as is to just use it to tire out your enemy over time. Maybe mixing it with oil could have a nice effect as well although you would be hard pressed to use such a substance. A good counter would be using a water stream of similar or more powerful nature though I have heard of using a fire stream as well though why would anyone do something silly like that? It would be nice if this could be expanded on in a larger form."

Aigis showed Roshi the next jutsu written on the C-Rank Fire scroll, AFTER he had given his analysis.

(Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu ) - Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique

She curtly pointed to a couple of targets, which looked like training dummies that were stuff, and held up by wooden poles.
Clone 1 approached one of the dummies and leaped into the air as he channeled a strong amount of his chakra towards his lungs. He then inhales, chest fully puffed up, and quickly performs 6 handseals. He then makes a ring made by his thumb and index finger, then blows out a small ball of fire which travels towards the dummy from the air, incinerating it. Clone 2 then follows suit by channeling his chakra too and as he inhales, he too performs 6 handseals. He then blows a gigantic ball of flames towards the dummy. He sustains it carefully as its sheer power destroys the dummy and most of the grass below it.

Roshi then proceeds to speak:

"I do like that it can be done in two ways as each has its own practical use in combat. I would prefer to use the travelling fireball in mid-air followed by a wind technique to create a deadly combo or at least a decent one. Both forms have its disadvantage, one being a stream and the other being a smaller fireball. I assume since they are rather large size, that your vision is compromised, both for you and your opponent which can go both ways, good or bad. With the right strategy though you could account for this and counter with a wind technique and overpower their counter, giving you the edge if they follow up with lightning. Can't wait to learn more great techniques such as this."

"Much better. I expect your analysis to be of that caliber as we move along."

"Since you've already created a clone, I suppose we can learn two techniques at once. That way, we can move your training along at a moderate pace."

Tossing a lighter to Roshi's clone, Aigis walked over and spoke to him.

"The first jutsu in this set has you tossing that lighter in front of you. Remember to apply your chakra to that lighter, both nature and shape manipulation. When the lighter is on the ground, use your chakra that you infused into it to make the flame of the lighter erupt into a wall of fire. It provides basic protection. Quite straightforward."

"On top of your usual analysis, I want you to give me specific ranks of jutsus you think this technique can defend against."

Aigis tossed a few kunai nonchalantly at Roshi's clone, which would require him to react reflexively with the technique she just described in order to defend himself.

( Katon: Kimuchi Amura ) - Fire Release: Wall of Flames
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary/Defence
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: The user first throws out a lighter that has an open flame. The user the turns the flame into a wall of fire used for protection or to burn small objects thrown towards him. This jutsu can be used with Hurricane Fist to create a combo jutsu.

Then, looking to the original Roshi, Aigis presented the next jutsu on the scroll.

"This one's rather complex, so I feel like a written explanation is better."

( Katon: Hibashiri ) - Fire Release: Running Fire
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: After performing the Tiger hand seal by utilizing their fire chakra, the user will create a stream of fire that can be manipulated into several forms (rings of fire that runs on the ground or a circle of fire flying through the air) before striking the target. It can also be used in combination with Wind Release: Divine Wind to create a tornado of flames, or with Wind Release: Godly Wind from the Mountains to release a massive inferno. The stream of fire can be created by stomping the ground (running across the ground in this case) or by spewing the flames (which will form an airborne ring of flames that will travel towards the enemy).

"Try both variants, and tell me what you think the advantages or disadvantages of the stomping variant and the spewing variant are. Also, other than the wind techniques described in here, what would be one other good wind technique to combine with this one, and why?"

My clone catches the lighter and as he listens to the rest of Aigis' speech, my clone grips the lighter tightly. Though just a clone, it was still tied to my psyche and could recollect my past memories as well. He remembered a friend of mine I used to know. Before he headed off to war, he would always leave his lighter to me to which I would return back to him on his return. He always did return to claim it and he would always treat me to ramen afterwards. But one day towards the start of the 3rd (the one Kakashi was in; can't for the life of me remember which number was it) of the Great Ninja War, he went off to war. I waited patiently because at that time I couldn't do anything as a mere child. He never came back to claim his lighter and it was only years later that I had found out he was killed on his way back home. One of his friends mentioned to me that he fought hard saying he had to return to get his grandfather's lighter and treat a kid to ramen. Roshi still kept that lighter with him to this day but for the sake of today's lesson, he used the lighter provided him. To Aigis it would only seem like Roshi grasped the lighter and smiled as he closed his eyes.

".....I remember Akio."

Once he opened his eyes, he could see the kunai coming at him and remembered what the lesson was about. He quickly threw the lighter in front of him slightly and quickly focused his concentration on the flame. Roshi infused his chakra into the flame and expanded the flames to create a large, roaring wall of flames. It was big enough to cover him from a frontal attack and throw off the kunai successfully in time though for him it was quite a close call. As was his task, he then proceeded to analyse the technique for his senpai as he did his usual stance, arms crossed and eyes closed.

"Well now, the advantage of this jutsu would be that when timed correctly, it can create an effective defense against some projectiles and to some degree, debris as well. I am a bit hesitant though because fire isn't traditionally a solid element to use for blocking and/or defending especially against other solid objects so it is circumstantial in that case as to what it can defend against. The fact that you have to utilize a lighter doesn't suit me well either. Many things can go wrong so using it wisely would be in your best interest. Also I'd like to add that I don't particularly like using fire, lightning, and wind techniques to defend with since you can't solidify them enough to defend against other solid objects. I'd rather stick with the traditional earth and water techniques since they are my favorites. I wonder if you can use a wind technique to boost the power of the wall and use as a distraction while you throw some lighting techniques through it.

And as per your request, it depends on what element you are defending against to determine what rank it can defend against. Although it is a C-Rank technique, I still look at this specific defensive jutsu as a D-Rank due to its properties. Fire is more commonly used as an offensive element so using this as a defensive is a bit iffy to me. Water can tear right through it (or at least cancel it) if C-Rank and above. Lighting will go right through it. Wind...probably C-Rank and above can cancel it out or just end up increasing the flames and could backfire on you. Earth can probably tear right through it if C-Rank and above as well as fire techniques C-Rank and above."

Meanwhile....

After reading the scroll and dissecting the jutsu in his mind, he then proceeds to speak to Aigis while still looking at the scroll. He hoped he didn't sound rude to her so he made sure his tone wasn't too rough for her although he hoped she would understand that old men tend to sound like they know everything despite that fact that they don't. xD

"Well now, using the first variant (spewing a ring around the target) can help create a closed environment for your opponent. With it you have the advantage of using wind techniques to greatly increase the power of the heat created by the fire using Divine Wind. I actually would prefer using that one since it increases the damage by 10 points which is a nice bonus if everything is timed correctly. I don't think there are any good canon C-Rank Wind techniques to use with this variant as well as give a bonus like this one so I would rather use Divine Wind with it. The second variant (making a ring in mid air) is quite unique in my opinion but only once combined with a good wind technique to create a tornado or inferno. The constant motion of the technique should be able to quickly cause some devastating damage. Using Godly Wind from the Mountain is a good technique as well as Wind Release: Flower Scattering Dance though the latter requires the use of handseals so it depends on your timing and what you want to achieve with it.

Overall, the technique itself is a good offensive technique. Its diverse ability makes it that much more appealing to use and opens doors to more creative counters. I was thinking of using the second variant and then either myself or a clone would throw a lightning strike towards the center of the technique while in midair. Doing that could limit your opponent in ways to counter and lead him to use hiding like a mole technique which then you can use to your advantage to come up with your next counter. As far as disadvantages are concerned, it seems that you have to maintain the fire stream. So when using wind jutsu in combination with it, you have to be mindful that the fire technique will die out if you don't act fast, I assume."

With that said, Roshi then proceeds to perform the first variant of the technique. He channels his chakra as he makes the tiger handseal. He then releases it as he spews a stream of fire that travels in a circle around a nearby dummy, creating a strong ring of fire. He then proceeds by channeling his chakra again as he makes the tiger handseal. He then releases it into the next variant by spewing a stream of fire into the air above the dummy and waits for it to descend onto his target.
