Roshi had been traveling the borderlands in Iwagakure and decided to sit down for a spell. He gazed onward and saw the landscape of the land. The valley below was green and fertile as far as the eye could see. There were some crop rows below in the valley near some houses. He remembered this place real well from his childhood. In the Autumn there were grandiose festivals, celebrating the gift of life and bountiful harvests. The villagers would all display there pride and joy crop that had overgrown into huge proportions. Roshi smiled at the thought of children passing by the displays and commenting on how best to madden the farmers. He gave a deep sigh as his eyes wandered higher. The mountains too were covered in green and spots of grey rocks. As his eyes went even higher he looked in awe at the grey clouds covering the tops of these grand mountains that held the valley below. It was a bit chilly since he was up this high. He sat on a vast plain field overlooking the village below and the expansive valley. The grass was kind of scarce with some patches of dirt. It was on this plain where he played as a child and dreamt of becoming a fine shinobi.
Roshi was not the type of person to easily give up. He had grown up with many prejudices and trials of his own. He had persevered them but only because he forced himself to stay positive. He knew that in order to achieve his dreams he would have to work even harder and hopefully one day impress his old man. They barely talked since he was always on journeys but if there was one thing Roshi learned was that a mind determined is a mind that does. In other words, his actions were going to speak louder than his words ever could. Roshi took a piece of grass and placed it on his teeth as he began to chew it and lay down. You see, in the village below was staying a renowned shinobi by the name of Mystogan. From what he gathered he was a quiet man with incredible power that in time his name came to be feared. Roshi looked up and snickered and spoke.
"Pfft...what makes him so powerful? I haven't even met the guy and I am already obsessing over him. But I need to know how to be a better shinobi. If I am lucky maybe he can help me get better with using fire. If I want to achieve my dreams of becoming a Kage I will have to kick it up a notch. But I am so lazy. I hope I can keep up."
Roshi stands up and looks towards a nearby tree and spoke.
"I told him to meet me here. I applied to get taught by him but I wonder if he will answer back. For some reason I want to press his buttons and find out what ticks him off. But I need to proceed with caution lest I incur his wrath. Well...anyways I hope he got my message."
Looking at the sky and already next to the tree, Roshi places his right foot against the tree and leans on the tree a bit. He closes his eyes and switches his senses to his hearing. He crosses his arms and awaits Mystogan-sensei.
