As expected, DICE has confirmed that a Battlefield 4 Premium service is in the works and will be made available later this year. We were the first to reveal the existence of a Premium service in our leaked Battlefield 4 details.

Battlefield 4 Premium service will likely follow in the footsteps of the BF3 Premium membership. Benefits of that included free access to all DLC, some extra in-game items, more Battlelog features, etc. To date, over 3 million players have purchased a Premium subscription, which generated lots of additional revenue for EA.

Now Battlefield 4 game director Lars Gustavsson confirmed to DigitalSpy that DICE is will “definitely do Premium for Battlefield 4″. He added that BF3 Premium was well received by the community and that this is “definitely something we’re going to continue with”.

Yesterday it was confirmed that BF3 Premium members will have access to the upcoming Battlefield 4 beta, which will be released this Fall. So far Premium members have gotten quite a lot of mileage out of their $50 subscription: 4 additional expansion packs (each would retail at $15 separately), lots of extra weapons and gadgets, strategy guides, bonus content, and more.

Hopefully DICE will expand on the Battlefield 4 Premium service and offer additional features for gamers. The first Battlefield 4 DLC has already been confirmed and will be available for free to those who pre-order the game on Origin.

Battlefield 4 premium will likely retail at $50 as a one-time fee, just like last time.
